Ah sory I missed the original availability in your original post.
So completely open availability is generally a huuuge plus for someone. Having that quickly changed kind of gives off a feeling of “you lied to me just to get the transfer through” even if that wasn’t what happened.
Added to that, even if your availability is still relatively open, there’s a chance it doesn’t suit the store needs. I worked at a store once whose busiest times were specifically Friday and Saturday mornings. And if that’s 5pm-close and not 5am-close, 5pm is late enough that depending on store hours and other partners’ availablity, possibly doesn’t work as a shift at all. Also if they’re doing block scheduling it might really mess it up.
In any case, none of this is your fault, and ideally your manager behaved a little better, but let’s look at moving forward.
Do you have a certain amount of hours you require / need to reach? If you’re trying to hit 30-40 hrs, dropping down to what may be only 4 days (if those closing shifts don’t work for the store) might not be feasible for the store. If you previously needed 40 but are now fine with only 2-3 shifts, remember to bring that up with your manager, so it doesn’t seem like you’re trying to custom make your own schedule.
If you can, try and bring it up with your manager in a “help me problem solve” sort of tone can help. “Hey Mr. SM, with my family circumstances changing I have to do X on Y days and cannor get out of it. I know you valued my original open availablity, is there something we can work out?” You also might end up having to look into stores that might be able to work with your availability more.
