Every time I’m scheduled to come in and open since my first day, I’ve been opening on my own because someone calls out. It happened again today I was alone from 7-12 , missed my break and got “in trouble” for going over my break time. We’re understaffed, it’s now only 5 of us on staff and our manager is completely useless she just goes and sits in her car for honestly hours at a time, and when she is around everyone is miserable . Between that and the best I’m burned out and it’s only been a month. I absolutely hate it

Are you at a licensed location or corporate. If its a corporate, in my area you could get in extreme trouble for opening alone. Its a serious security risk for you and you have no witnesses otherwise.

Quit, it sounds harsh, but if they know you'll keep opening alone they will keep making you do it. I opened at my licensed location alone every day or every other day for months. The only thing that broke the trend was a global pandemic. If you can't actually quit, threaten to quit. I begged my manager with tears in my eyes (am a full grown adult man) before they started to fix the staffing.
