Stomach Bug Saddness (self.starbucksbaristas)

So Ive been nauseous with a headache and diarrhea (sorry lol) since monday. yesterday at work i found out my family also had diarrhea and we pinned it down to a stomach bug and they sent me home from work and told me not to come back for 24 hours. i texted my SM last night asking what i needed to do for today’s shift and she told me if i didn’t come in, that i needed to find coverage….. so i came in today because no one would have covered me with 12 hours in advance. i had to go home again today because of the nausea, headache AND high heart rate. I feel awful because i don’t like being the partner to call out/leave work but i honest to god could not finish my shift.
what do i do to not feel so much like a disappointment for leaving work sick..?

omg i stg i had the exact same thing. i hope you feel better soon. don’t feel bad at all. i had to call out as well. you are better at home getting better than putting customers and partners at risk. take care of yourself!! also if you’re sick it’s not your responsibility to find coverage. “"In the event of an emergency or sudden onset of illness, injury or other emergency circumstances, however, the partner will not be held responsible for finding a substitute. The partner will still be responsible for notifying his or her store manager or assistant store manager of the absence; the store manager or assistant store manager will arrange for shift coverage. "
