Some stupid idiot walked in today and asked for an Americano Misto with full confidence.
This bitch had been here before and was one of those customers that can not and should not be corrected. GOD FORBID.

I rang up her 2 complicated ass drinks and was annoyed at me because I could not hear her and she wasn't speaking up

Then she proceeds to tell me she wants to load $20 onto her card.

Me - ok that'll be $30.07

Customer - no that's not right

Me - are you not wanting to reload $20

Customer - yEs

Me - ok, then the total will be $30.07

Customer (irritated) - wHaTs ThE pRobLem

Me
(fed the fuck up with this crusty ass bitch and her attitude - am now understanding that she wants to reload her card then pay with the reloaded card - fucking bullshit - so what do I do; save order, reload card, and ask her to scan...again)

That sent this mfing c*nt over the edge

Customer- wHy dO i neEd tO rEscAn

Me - so that I can reload the $20 ma'am

Customer - oH nAw NaW, yOu DoNT kNOw wHaT yOu'Re DoING (proceeds to call my SSV by name - LOUDLY)

SSV- Hey what can I help you with?

Customer - i TolD hEr I wAnted to ReLoAd mY cArD...blah blah blah

(SSV does the same exact fucking thing I did the first time)

SSV - okay, your total is $30.07

Customer - *apple pay* thank you. That wasn't so hard

WHEN I TELL YOU I WANTED TO REACH OVER AND SMACK A BITCH, ON GOD

Why are fucking shitty people so entitled.
There was a long ass line and MS THING had to make it a whole production.
Bitch you are not special.

Sorry for the foul language - I just hit a boiling point

We should have a service where you push a button under the register and an ex-employe is dispatched to the store to curse out people like this.

Ok yours was worse than mine but I really triggered this old lady who wanted a tall "dark roast" at 11:30 when we were brewing only Pike. I should have just rung up a tall Pike, really I should. I think it's pretty dark (and disturbing.) Instead, and I regret this, I told her that we had stopped brewing dark for the the day but we could make her a pour over. Barked at me, "No one has ever said anything about a pour over here before!" and "I can't hear a word you are saying" because of my mask. Her friend then ordered her a pour over. By contrast, a familiar nice older man later ordered a dark roast too, I asked, "Is Pike dark enough?" He made a face and I laughed and said "I know" and he got a venti pour over too and was sweet about it.

SSV here, would have connected with you first about the transaction and then corrected the customer. I don’t get paid to take the customers side. I get paid to own and advise, so that’s what I do. Customers come in thinking they get special treatment because they know my name, umm no you dont

You can do this without saving the order and opening a new screen. All you have to do is take the $30.07 and they pay the $20.00 they want to re load with their payment method.

Then push the rest through on the Sbux card. That means 10.07 is deducted from the Starbucks card. Try this next time to save time.

Yeah I’m pretty sure OP was doing that.. customer was just a little bitch

This specific instance is kind of an example of bad Starbucks training more than anything else. For me, I’d ring it all up as one, charge 20 dollars to the credit card, and then you can pay the rest on the Starbucks card (11 whatever.) So you don’t have to retype anything, you only scan any given card once, and you’re not charging $30 to a single source. You can do it all in one transaction, the machine knows you’re reloading.

The problem is that if customers are used to this, what you’re doing is unfamiliar and seems like something sketch is going on. Basically anytime a price is higher than you expect you’d be concerned, right? Same thing.

Granted this customer sounds like they were likely pretty rude…. But this is a confusing issue caused by Starbucks. Starbucks just kind of breeds trouble, whether miscommunication or bad customers. Sucks that baristas have to deal with the fallout.

I triggered an old lady one time - she had complicated drinks with a lot of modifications and at that point it was literally my THIRD day at Starbucks. So I was having issues finding the correct modifications and was moving too slowly for her liking (I even remember telling her that it was my 3rd day - she apparently didn't care). She also had two orders and demanded the receipt for both. Luckily I've worked at Kohls on Black Friday so customers being angry rarely phase me... due to this, I honestly didn't even notice that she was peeved at me until after my manager pulled me aside later.

Manager: hey I noticed how well you handled that angry customer and just wanted to say good job!

Me: I, uh, thank you but, uh, what angry customer?

Manager: the older lady with the two complicated orders? She was getting rather... huffy at you.

Me: oh.

So I guess yay to me for being so laidback/used to customers that I didn't even notice that a customer was angry... except now my manager is like "when we have an angry customer - send in [my name]" 🤦‍♀️

An Americano Misto is a thing tho, its literally in the recipe cards
healthypenguins 9 points 2y ago
We don't have a button, but probably because it's not ordered frequently here (US). But anytime I've had that come up I just ring up an Americano and charge the milk.
This only came up for me because this dude was trying to pull one over on one of my partners by asking for an Americano with steamed soy and then going to ask the barista to add more soy than water.

I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted for this. Maybe it's only on the menu in Canada? Because I have a POS button for it.

Obviously not an excuse to be rude to your barista, but really Starbucks, why is the menu like this
catcatgobyebye 5 points 2y ago
Yeah agreed. Like im in Pennsylvania and ive still got the card even if it does say canada which idk https://www.starbucks.ca/menu/product/2122613/hot?parent=%2Fdrinks%2Fhot-coffees%2Famericanos#:~:text=Bold%20Starbucks%C2%AE%20Espresso%20shots,an%20authentic%2C%20handcrafted%20espresso%20beverage.
