submitted by orangeeelemonnn
i’ve worked here for ages now but we have a new DM who is really cracking down on uniform rules.
before i would have would all black vans or converse but she is saying that it’s dangerous incase hot water spills on them.
does anyone have any recommendations for shoes that are in dress code which are good for work?
n.b. i don’t really find boots comfortable to wear at work.

i wear nonslip sketchers for work. they’re leather as well just incase of spills and very lightweight. and at least with sketchers you can use the perksatwork discount too

I know you don’t like boots, but doc martens makes a sneaker boot that’s not a big clunky shoe. Very comfy and anti slip. My absolute favorite to work in. vans makes shoes specifically for this!! they’re called made for the makers, full black leather shoes that look like normal old skools. A bit expensive but worth it, very comfy as well!

thank you! I'm considering a pair of black leather air force one as well. a few people at my store have them and haven't had any issues so far. so fingers crossed 🤞

i think they're non-slip although i'm not 100% sure :/ pretty sure they are non-marking though

Not gonna lie, I just head to Kohl's, and check the nonslip section for their shoes, usually all the nonslip shoes have a leather top that works really well.

Any greyscale or brown waterproof nonslip shoes with good arch support and maybe some cushion. I had a pair of black faux leather nonslip sketchers sneakers that were awesome - never slipped, they were cushioned, you couldn't see the stains (lol), and the only way I could burn my foot was if hot water/coffee went down my leg
I find boots are too clunky for me, and I was more of a sneaker kind of gal back then. I know some people praise Crocs on here, since IIRC they have a worker line of shoes that look and feel nice!

pretty much any black leather shoes are fine! i wear adidas continentals and leather puma creepers all the time. my puma creepers are my favorite bc the thick heel helps me not slide around a lot and pumas in general are my comfiest shoes.

I like to recommend the TredSafe brand of work shoes from Walmart. Surprisingly decent quality for the price and with my personal experience, they’re more slip resistant than the Skechers work line. My personal opinion.

I bought a pair of vessis for work. I love them! Comfy, cute and waterproof

I have a pair of black leather adidas I found at a thrift store with a pair of Walmart insoles added. Sometimes I wear my timberlands but it feels like the syrups and milk destroy my shoes too quickly to wear something expensive.
