Long term bullying (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Mmmhmmbread
I’m one of the newest baristas and I was bullied by a shift supervisor when I started. We had a temporary SM that wrote them up and made me feel safe. Since I permanent SM has a arrived. The bullying had tripled and became a store wide activity. I reported it to the SM and ethics, the bullying finally stopped. But I have received no apology and have been told to move on. I called out for suicidal thoughts and now my SM says she has her other partners to think about.

Honestly. I wouldn't hold your breath for an apology. Unfortunately we are all easily replaced cogs in a corporate machine.

However. I would suggest looking into the employee assistance program. I can't remember specifically what it is called for Starbucks. But they've got free access to counselors who can talk to you and may be able to give suggestions on how to effectively tackle this issue if it should ever arise again. And also help you with coping and processing your feelings on the bullying. And the counselors aren't Starbucks employees. They are a contractor and bound by HIPPA regulations for your privacy and protection.

If you can't find it corporate materials, someone here may have it.... or check with your DM, if it's not something you want to bring it up with your manager.

What exactly did the supervisor do/say to bully you as that is important in determining action.

She told me to quit and would ignore any questions I had. She also said that I lacked common sense after I told her I’m autistic.
