ik this is an uncommon sentiment (understandably) but my european starbucks is a literal godsend. ive been working here for a week and all customers are incredibly friendly and chatty and ive had maybe one bad experience. the management is young as hell and also incredible and breaks company policy in our favor giving us extra food and extra breaks. my coworkers are sweet and cool and made me feel like im rly part of the team right off the bat. whenever regional management/ superiors come in they know who i am (even tho ive only been working here a minute) n they address me by my first name and ask me how im doing, if im liking it n stuff. everyday i have an amazing day at work and come out grinning like a mf and aaaaaa. i know especially in america working in stabrucks can be hell but im just so happy my team is amazing and i rly lucked out and yeah :(

Actually, it's not! People come here and to the main subreddit primarily to vent because they don't have someone IRL to really vent to, or they don't have someone who properly understands. The anonymity and community ends up making a great platform for... i dunno, like group therapy? lmao
I've had *awful* experiences with Starbucks, but I've also had some truly incredible moments. Many people here do actually enjoy the job, they just despise corporate or hate *parts* of the job.
Glad to hear you're well pleased with it :)

Also keep in mind the honeymoon phase is a real thing. You’ve been there a week.

I had a nice honeymoon phase, but all my fondest memories working for Starbucks happened years into my time with the company. Not everyone is as jaded and bitter as the average Starbucks redditor.

I appreciate that, but I also don’t really put much stock in someone’s opinion of a workplace who’s been there a week.

It's not all terrible in the States, I feel bad for the partners who have struggling store managers because we really have an awesome one. This sub is really helpful because it's a place to share and compare and vent more than we do in the store because we really try to be upbeat and positive and move past the bad orders and trying customers so that we can give the next customer a fresh start and a pleasant experience. There is a lot of great advice here about how to manage customer expectations and handle some of the more typical customer caused issues.

So I worked at Starbucks years ago, quit, and then recently came back. Honestly it's the best job I've ever had. I love making drinks and making people's day better by having quick convos and serving them caffeine. Yes, there are some bad moments, but when I realize the world doesn't revolve around me and that I am there to help other people, it makes it so much more rewarding and fun! And I love most of my partners!
