Just hired, need shoe help(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Adventurous-Path-976
Hey everyone,
I was just hired as a Barista and I need some shoe advice. I have all-black platform Docs, black vans with white trim, and all-black chucks. Will any of these work?

literally everyone at my store wears docs, i’d go with those! i wear the platform oxfords and a couple others wear jadons. those will be fine!

yay okay i have jadon’s too. thank you!

if you don’t mind me asking, how are docs for arch support?
geminavis3 points2y ago
they’re not the best imo, but definitely better than converse or vans or shoes like that. pretty comfy once you break them in, but wear bandaids for the break in process or you’ll regret it!!

another note in addition to my last reply! docs run pretty big/are pretty roomy so if you’re worried about arch support i’m guessing some arch support implants or whatever would fit in them! hope this helps :)

It does help! Thank you for the responses, I appreciate it :)

you want slip-resistant, comfortable, and water-resistant, so I would go with the Docs.
Protecting your feet is no joke. I had to drive someone that spilled just brewed hot coffee on her foot. Some of the sock and shoe MELTED onto the top of her foot, which is a very sensitive area.
Besides hot water, you call want a bit of protection against impact from stuff that might fall on your foot.
I prefer more ankle support so I go for taller boots, but that's personal preference.

Okay I don’t work at Starbucks buuuut I do work in a locally owned shop and I’m On my feet from 4am to 8 pm (house work too) and I swear Dansko is the best 100%

How tall are the platforms? Danger danger The other two options aren’t ideal, as canvas will absorb any hot liquid you spill on your feet (welcome 2 the splash zone), but I don’t usually expect someone I hire to have perfectly dress code appropriate shoes from the beginning.

if you're not wearing non-slip shoes, just be careful! i usually wear timbs or slip on sneakers and neither of them are non-slip, i just have to be careful when its wet lol.

i wear canvas vans and while they're trashed; they were $50 and bought knowing they'd get demolished on the job, to me nbd. it's nice having a designated pair i don't mind getting dirty

Fairly new. I went to fleet feet and got 54$ insoles for the converse I got for 8$ and honestly after some adjustment my feet are doing fine. I will get new shoes eventually, but for a quick fix for any shoe- semi custom insoles are the ticket. 54$ for a ‘I-need-this-today’ quick fix is better then shoe shopping and spending much more.

it depends how u feel in the platforms but docs are by far the best best, usually nonslip and will protect ur feet from hot drink spills
