It had something do with drama with his wife or something lol, as well as the hours. I think he became a trucker.

I’ve had a green bean quit shortly after finishing training. I can assure you that you probably trained them fine, some people aren’t cut out for this job.
sungoode [OP]9 points2y ago
yeah it’s what i figured just sucks bc we waste time training someone who had no intentions of staying

The one that hurt me was a girl who came from a Disneyland(?) starbucks and it was her dream to do well at a real one; she quit after training because she got a job in accounting

I once had a girl quit after throwing up on herself due to the stress of it all. It’s not you - it’s just not a job for the weak!
aninvisiblemonster17 points2y ago
A person isn’t weak for not sticking it out at Starbucks. Their wants, needs, and capabilities are just different than yours.
LilEss918 points2y ago
Strength in the workforce is shown through how you grow and handle certain situations. Everyone is weak coming in from adolescence and they either learn how and where to thrive or do not. She was young and I’m confident she has grown and is thriving if she has since figured out her boundaries, so don’t read too far into someone’s experience. We all start off on deer legs and find our footing when we’re ready.

My nice partner who is a trainer just had two green beans quit. No way is it his fault, we have a very hot job market here, some employers offering large signing bonuses for entry level untrained workers.
ashley-leigh9 points2y ago
What state do you live in? I may move there now for a large bonus. I’m untrained in lots of things lol
FfierceLaw3 points2y ago
Amazon in middle GA. $1000, probably not enough to move for but enough to lure partners away

Not a trainee, but the first dude I ever interviewed did fantastically, I gave a very strong endorsement to the SM to hire this guy, they called him and he accepted and NEVER SHOWED UP OR CALLED AGAIN.
Oopsy--Daisy11 points2y ago
Mine tried to get our DM, SM, and myself fired because she decided to have an explosively aggressive and violent outburst at work where customers were present and I had to literally pull her off my SM and then she got confused as to why they wanted an incident report when it was "clear misogyny because our SM knew she had PTSD from her dad" and he wanted to talk to her face to face about the incident instead of just relying on eyewitnesses; aka the entire floor and a couple customers. So, uh, yeah, don't take it personally, some people just ain't cut out for it 🙃

My green bean quit right after I trained him. It was partially cause of what I said to him too. (It was right at the start of the pandemic and he lived with someone high risk. He was anxious to the point that I decided to talk to him about it because it seemed to be impacting his health way too much.)

Aww don’t feel bad op. This job isn’t for everyone. I was there for 2 years but almost quit on 90% of my shifts
sungoode [OP]1 points2y ago
yeah i was mainly just stressed out because she quit after 4 days with no warning and then our dm came for a surprise visit and asked me about it and i was scared 😭
TherudestLiz3 points2y ago
Me and a guy started working the same day. He literally quit the next day lol. So, it happens. I haven’t seen it happen again, and I’ve been there for 2.5 years now lol
moon_light5232 points2y ago
My manager hired me and around 4 other people around the same time. Only two of us are left lmao

I had my fourth trainee quit right after training while I was on a week leave. Said they would’ve stayed cause they liked my training so 🤷🏻♂️
rosesandthorns172 points2y ago
it’s not your fault. starbucks doesn’t give enough time for you to really thoroughly get to train someone so it can be overwhelming and a lot can’t handle that.

There was a green bean at my store who was told when she was hired that she can’t wear nail polish. She shows up on day 3 of training with nail polish and and was told to wear gloves for the rest of her shift or go home for the day. She just walked out and never came back. Like a month after that we got a call from a sore in another district asking about her because she applied to work at that store and we had to tell them she quit over nail polish lol. I don’t think she got hired at that store

I had a green bean quit on the spot during bar training. After he wasn’t understanding the concept of reading the whole sticker before starting a drink. After the 4th time in a row I tried to couch him on this and he said “I don’t need this shit and left.”
