Am I the only one who genuinely likes their job here? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I like the job jus fine! Making drinks is fun and my co workers are great. Its the bad/rude customers I can't stand.

Very true. I just see a lot of people saying that they dislike their managers and have bad management

No, ur one of the few that has a good manger and coworkers. I transferred and now I’m pretty happy with it due to sm, ss, and baristas are chill. Makes a huge difference!

I am leaving my store after 18 months because it was not a fit for me. Had a core group of great baristas, but the Shift had a negative vibe to her and of the THREE managers we went through, I only vibes with my first 1, who left right before the pandemic...
Really hoping the new store is all I want it to be, I really enjoy the job, but I need to be supported and encouraged. And when I open with someone I need them to be nice and respond when I say good morning??? How hard is it????

Yes.

I love my job! I actually quit a few years ago and recently came back after realizing office jobs were not for me. I love making drinks, serving people, and I love most of the people I work with. Like any job, there are negatives, but it's so much better of a job than some other things out there. I try to ignore all the negative posts I see so that it doesn't warp my feelings

I love being a barista, I don't care for working at Starbucks. If I could find a real coffee shop that offered insurance I'd go there without a second thought

I like my job just fine, after we got a new manager. It’s also lovely that we’re a cafe store, no DT, still not open for seating. I can’t complain too much

Nope. I like my job. My SM is cool, the crew is good and the customers are mostly chill. I mean, we get some doozies occasionally but nothing like what some regions experience, I guess. Plus, perspective plays a roll. I’m an older barista and feel like I have a couple of decades of shitty jobs to compare it to.

Absolutely. When you are young with no job experience, you can say, “Starbucks treats me like a robot!” - and feel it with your whole heart.

But if you’ve been at a job where you’ve never been allowed a 10 or an actual lunch - you would have something to compare it to.

Grass is ALWAYS greener.

I legit love it, even when it gets terrible. Today we had 3 partners call in within 45 mins of the same shift start time. Our 8 play went to a 5 Saturday peak. Happens more often then we wished, but we give partners sick time for a reason and sometimes this is how the mocha cookie crumbles. We closed the lobby, leaned into Mobil & dt and still had fun with it. Something about enjoying the people you work with and doing the best you can with the situation presented to you. Sometimes ya can’t stay late, or come early, and so be it. The store will figure it out, the SM (I am one) can get staff up and ideally your out of this situation in a few weeks. I appreciate my team so much and empower them to make these type of calls in the moment. Have fun with each other/your customers and don’t take this stuff sooooo serious. Just coffee people thank god were not heart surgeons

Yes! I actually do really enjoy my job, and I love the people I work with.

I love my job as a barista! I left a job where I did literally everything (my manager was unable to quit his job “because the business could not survive without both of us,” and tbh it’s barely surviving without me) for crap pay and awful coworkers so working at a place where my fellow partners have my back and I actually like going to work has done wonders for my mental health
Decent_Macaron3444 1 points 2y ago
i like it a lot but the people can be very :| sometimes. a tad draining on bad days but good days feel rewarding

edit: i also have pretty cool coworkers so yea.. some r leaving tho so :( i hope the newer hires that r filing in are just as cool as them.

Careful, you're breaking the circlejerk!

They never taught me how I just do all of the grunt work and the baristas at my store are so pushy

i like making drinks and my coworkers. everything else, drains, (most) customers and floors can kiss my ass.
South-Ad754 1 points 2y ago
Love it . All jobs suck at times so it’s definitely a see the good kinda vibe I try to have
coldliketherockies 1 points 2y ago
I do. But mostly because its easy...really thats why. We have a slow store thats just busy enough so we never get bored but never feeling, lately, like breaking your back (maybe on a rare day).

Its in NY state so, while I won't say the pay its pretty ok after tips. I did construction as a newbie and only made a few $$ more an hour. Id take that few $$ cut anyday and work 3 extra hours a week to not be in the hot sun with high risk of injury carrying heavy equipment.

Also on great days its REALLY great when everything has a flow and the crew that you're with is just hanging while working is fun. Also i get to pick the 90s/2000s pop/rock music list too.
