No one is allowed to do it actually. You may have a manager that lets you but it it is most definitely not allowed. Playing music in a public space is subject to licensing and copywrite laws, by playing music publicly that Starbucks might not be licensed to play is illegal. I mean that's just the technicalities, no one's likely going to notice or do anything about it.

I wear earbuds, I just dont tell anyone or make it obvious haha. At my old store we were able to play our own music and it made us much more productive.

I used to wear a beanie and do this all the time. I love wireless earbuds.

The only times we’ve played our own music is when the lobby was closed and no customers could come in. I really miss it tbh.

When I was a closing SSV, we’d set an extra DT headset to handsfree mode and have someone play their music at a low volume from their phone into the headset. That way we could still hear customers in DT and take orders without worrying about customers hearing the music.

Our DM is vehemently against it so we don’t. Which is a big bummer in my opinion. I miss when our lobby was closed and we could play what we wanted!
