My manager has literally had to call other store managers because their employees come in and be assholes to us for no reason. Its always the 29s or the 30s too. I dont understand how any retail employee can treat another like crap when they know what we all go through.
whycantibeamermaid 25 points 2y ago
It took me a minute to realize you didn’t mean 29/30 year olds and I was prepared to be super offended. Lol
NervosaNervous 16 points 2y ago
I’m a 29 and I refuse to order any complicated drinks at my own store, let alone at another store. I can wait till my shift to make my own drink.
dstnygn 4 points 2y ago
29 and same. i dont even have a complicated drink but i rarely wanna have another barista make it. it just seems weird.
cody_1849 7 points 2y ago
I’ve noticed this too! These new baristas are something else lol. But then again they were forged in the time of Tik Tok drinks and Covid😂
cyan_reynolds -7 points 2y ago
Well that's your issue right there, they're all new partners, probably excited to try all their tiktok drinks.
EnvironmentalLoad828 7 points 2y ago
Im not upset about them ordering complicated drinks at all. My point was that they have an entitled attitude about themselves for no reason. They cant complain about terrible customers if they go to another store and become the terrible customer.

Shoutout to all baristas who treat other baristas like humans!! Yall are amazing and Im happy to make your complicated ass drinks
cyan_reynolds 5 points 2y ago
I was not disagreeing with you, idk why I'm getting downvoted. Complaining about people ordering overly complicated tik tok drinks and then going to other stores doing is the same thing is entitled.
AmbitiousCriticism 3 points 2y ago
It definitely initially read as that's YOUR problem, vs THAT'S your problem. Glad I reread
Lucky_Ant_2410 23 points 2y ago
I always feel bad ordering complicated drinks sometimes I’ll get drinks for my family and that will include a frap or two and I feel so bad for no reason I try to be a simple as possible unless I’m able to make my drink myself
girzjustwannahavefun 22 points 2y ago
Also, Im gonna add this real quick. Dont get weird or be offended when I ask for a partner card or ID. I am literally supposed to. I have never seen you before. Idk who you are. You are not a celebrity.
latent_spring 2 points 2y ago
I always offer my ID but I definitely ask some weird ass questions when I go to core stores because I work at a Roastery. I promise I’m a partner! lol. 💕
girzjustwannahavefun 1 points 2y ago
As long as you offer your ID im excited. Its just awkward to ask sometimes. If you work at a roastery why would you even come to a core store lololol roasterys are soooo much better
latent_spring 1 points 2y ago
because we don’t have anything with sugar and I MISS LEMON LOAVES
Uu3uU 19 points 2y ago
This is a rule that I live by: If my drinks are complicated, I leave a big fat tip and am extremely polite, even if they happen to be rude
P_2_P 13 points 2y ago
ID, to verify they’re partners. We’ve had some “partners” come in and attempt to do the same. We asked for the ID and an alarmingly large amount of them didn’t have any sort of ID to show.
_hipster_dog_ 3 points 2y ago
Yes this! I remember there was a thing going around on TIK TOK about how to find the baristas numbers based on their receipt!
P_2_P 7 points 2y ago
I had a partner offer to show me their Instagram instead. I’m not the ID police, I want to give you the benefit of the doubt. But if you don’t have anything on you with your supposed name, I start to get a little skeptical.
SaevioAvis 5 points 2y ago
Do remember nicknames and prefer names some times come up instead of ID names. At my old store we had quite a few trans partners that hadn’t changed their legal docs yet, but their Starbucks names came up different. It sucks because we do have a lot of people come in and pretend. And then, because we’re having to ID, our partners get outed and it’s kind of not fun.
whycantibeamermaid 13 points 2y ago
It’s because they don’t have the nerve to try and pull that shit at their own store.

Here’s an idea. If you wouldn’t go to your own store and order something so ridiculous because you don’t want your coworkers to talk shit or be annoyed with you, maybe don’t do that to someone else.
cringeqween13 10 points 2y ago
I only order/try weird drinks at my store on the days j work. Most of the time I just get something on the menu with no ice or at a kids temp (sensitive to heat and hate how things that aren't meant to taste watered down when the ice melts) sometimes I'll add syrups or sub a juice for lemonade (my stores been out for 2 weeks) but the vsc and vsccf are overrated and shouldn't be added to everything.
girzjustwannahavefun 2 points 2y ago
100% those are not what I would consider complicated at all. Im talking about a list of customizations lol
HamiltonPolka 8 points 2y ago
Worked at a busy drive thru and every day during our peak, we’d have a partner from another store come through drive and order an 8 shot Frappuccino. This was a few years ago and we only had two Mastrenas then so it would just kill our rhythm
CV02A 7 points 2y ago
I don't understand, either. Current or former baristas I've encountered have a tendency to be overly familiar and act as if they're brethren because you guys go through the same painful experiences, then proceed to put you through just that by doing what the customers they dislike do. I've gotten more empathy from people working in other areas of food service or retail.
theLegendairy1 4 points 2y ago
"Fellow partner! I am off-duty but I thank you for your service. I felt compelled to share this connection with you because of our training. I see you are in the misto of battle! Partner, I too know of your panic and misery... Especially when a customer does this!"

Or at their own store when they're off
bonc_loser 1 points 2y ago
Im a 29 but used to work at a kiosk a year prior. I only ever order at my store and maybe the drive thru nearby but It’s never complicated drinks. That being said a partner from a diff store came to mine and caused a commotion on numerous occasions that after my shift put in an incident report the dude got fired
Humble-Comparison190 1 points 2y ago
as a 29 i sincerely apologize for my fellow 29s who suck
Lilium816 1 points 2y ago
Imagine being such a downer that you gripe when your fellow employees order things they like.

Edit: if it's some tiktok mess that I've already done a hundred times over I'll gripe about it, but if it's something unique I try to have fun with it.

Ffs it's not that big of a deal.

Also complaining that your fellow partners don't tip? Lmao you know we don't make squat. I'm already spreading my funds thinly enough.
girzjustwannahavefun 0 points 2y ago
Yea I bet it does suck to be a downer. Nobody hates making drinks that other people enjoy. But I do get inconvenienced when a fellow employee orders a drink with 5 modifications during peak. And as for tips, I tip when I go out. Its just a nice thing to do. Nobody is forced to, but if we want tips then we should be open to giving them.
old-spirit -1 points 2y ago
I also think it's silly to be so annoyed by a complicated drink. Like bro just make it. Nobody needs to be an ass - partners ordering it or partners making the drink.
jklmnopedy 1 points 2y ago
THIS!
misim1 -2 points 2y ago
Sometimes I wish I could just jump behind the line and make the drink myself 🤪
