For whatever reason I've had at least one customer a week ask me if I'm pregnant for the last four months. Now, I'm already very self conscious of my body and weight. I have endo and other health issues. If I eat any gluten I straight up look like I'm 5 months along. But even when I've eaten absolutely nothing and only drank water or americanos I'm asked this. One lady told me and wouldn't accept my telling her I wasn't... I can't eat without worrying about customers commenting on my weight. Im afraid to have anything but black drip coffee/ americanos, aaaaand water anymore, thankfully I do enjoy. But it's just insulting that I have to deal with this as a result of people's commentary. I know it shouldn't get to me but it has....

you shouldn’t even be considering changing your diet because of some idiotic customer. i’m not sure where you’re located but if a customer walked into my store and said a mere comment regarding anything about a barista’s weight it would be a HUGE issue. does this happen on a normal basis? aside from senseless customers overstepping boundaries, if you actually feel like you would benefit from changing your diet then you should definitely explore options, but please do not eat less because of it. your body needs food and if you want to drink more than watered-down americanos all day then do whatever makes you happy! i honestly can’t stand when i see somebody else feel like they have to change anything about themselves because of what other people think. girl you’re already underpaid and overworked at starbucks!!!

I am so sorry I literally have no advice because I am the same way and only drink black cold brew ):

Have you gotten tested for celiac? That could be why gluten makes you blotted. Also don’t fall into old habits for customers. Check in with your SM and see if you can get less time on POS because of these reasons!

I've been tested but am negative. I'm getting on a super restrictive diet right now to accommodate all my allergens though, which we think includes gluten. As for the SM thing, I am the SM. And we're a super understaffed kiosk. Me, my second, and a minor. We're doing what we can to make it work.
