I refuse to participate in customer criticism, especially if I'm working DTR/O or the front(self.starbucksbaristas)

right like do i talk shit and complain every now and again? yes but there comes a point where the complaining is insufferable and i can’t tolerate hearing it. i’m a ssv and if we’re in a good spot/slow i send those people home so i don’t have to hear it.

We get more than our fair share of obnoxious customers, but unless you need to make an incident report about it I find it completely unprofessional to say anything about them while on the clock.

every now and then ill make a comment to a partner under my breath if something rlly obnoxious is happening, but for the most part i try not to be too negative on the clock. not for the company, but for my own sanity. probably the best u can do is just not get involved w the ppl who are being super negative

I've also experienced this. My best advice is to either just keep your head down and continue working (appear to be distracted by your current position) OR note each instance and talk to a trusted shift (or manager) about your concerns without seeming accusational, just ask about overhearing complaints and whether or not there is a safer location for baristas to complain to each other.

That shit goes out the fuckin window when customers start to threaten you. You're just really new. You're not better than those baristas you just haven't been broken yet.

Yeah I agree. Save it for ranting to your friends after your shift. That said, I will do some light shit-talking if someone's behavior is impacting everyone, like if the shift is like "what's going on at the window? Why isn't drive moving?" ya because Karen and her daughter McKensleigheh keep asking for more stuff at the window and then took forever to drive off.

It bothers me, too. Just be prepared for downvotes. Here, people who like their job aren’t seen favorably.
