Hi to anyone who works at Starbucks I need help. I don’t want to ask my manager or anyone I work with because they are honestly never really helpful. So I want to take about a month leave for vacation outside of the U.S and was wondering is I can still get paid? Do I have to use sick leave? Or... I saw they have something with travel but i am confused someone help!!

look at the partner resources app on your store computer, where you see your pay rate, every pay stub/raise you’ve gotten, you can see your sick and vacation hours as well. You can do this with your home PC as well by googling Starbucks Partner Resources Portal or something along those lines.

Once you check how much sick time you have, you would go into the book and basically write in the dates that you want to use your vacation time. (You can obviously only do this for the days u don’t work lol) I think u can only do 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week. You can’t use your sick time at the same time because you would actually need to call out (I think don’t hold me to it lol) in order to use it.

You can only be paid if you have the vacation time saved up

Where exactly can I see if I have any saved up?

How long have you been with Starbucks? You only get vacation time after a year of working there

About to be two years in like 14 days

Gotcha! I think you can see it where you go to check your pay stubs (I don’t know the link)

Technically, if you are taking more that two weeks off, you’re supposed to apply for a leave of absence. It would be an unpaid LOA, but you should be able to use any vacation time you have accrued during this time. As stated in previous comments, you can’t use sick time unless it’s for an approved reason. Your LOA has to go through an approval process and isn’t guaranteed until it’s approved. I’m not 100% sure on how to start with the LOA process, but maybe someone else knows? (I know this because a friend of mine went through this process a while back and because I just had a fellow barista get in some trouble with my manager about requesting a month off and not going through the LOA process.)

You should be able to request it off normally but I doubt you’ll have enough vacation to get it all paid if you’ve only been there about 2 years (it depends on how many hours you work a week I guess). I recently took off 21 days and used up my vacation time then went unpaid for the rest. No need for an LOA if it’s under a month from what my SM told me. Just make sure you request in advance and in writing so that it’s actually approved.
