So I don’t actually work as a barista… (self.starbucksbaristas)

But I’ve been in the restaurant industry as a server and bartender for almost 10 years and I have so much gratitude for you guys. I’ve applied to a few Starbucks and never heard back, but I always grab me and my coworkers coffee before our brunch shifts and I have to commend you guys. You do a ton that no one really gets to understand. I always feel bad when I pick up my mobile orders with a few modifications (some are dairy free/others have flavor specifications they like) since I totally understand how frustrating it is.
Just wanted to say that y’all are amazing 💕💕💕💕

Thanks! And equally, God bless bartenders. Y'all have the same shit to deal with, except that people are drunk too. I have to say, in my experience, the people who are really concerned that their drinks are too extra always have very reasonable orders. The ones with the truly extra drinks are never worried about it. I'm sure you're delightful!

I can’t even say how many times a person with ex: sfv and coconut milk in a grande iced latte is like “I’m so sorry my drink is so complicated!!” I always respond with “girl you have no clue what we’ve seen” lmao

Yeah, we hired a regular customer of ours, and after she got bar training she admitted that she always felt bad ordering an iced Chai with vanilla added because she thought she was being a pain, and thought we just made it fast for her because we liked her. LOL!!! Then she realized she was not special getting her iced Chai quickly.

Here here! Also not a Sbux worker, but I appreciate the people that work there.

Awww <3 thank you. I am a barista but I was a bartender for 4 years and it was awesome. Covid made me lose my gig, but now with everything opening up, I’m hoping to pick up some bartending shifts. There’s nothing wrong with milk modifications or extra pumps or light/extra ice. BUT YESTERDAY I had to remake a drink because of this lady’s complicated ass order. She wanted:

Grande Caramel Crunch frappucino
Soy
No whip
Double blended
Extra ice
In a venti cup
With a nitro lid

Doesn’t seem that difficult right? Well I made it exactly like that and she wasn’t happy, said it wasn’t what she ordered. I made it again and put more caramel cause I didn’t understand what the fuck she wanted. I gave the 2nd one to her and she went off on me, telling me that wasn’t what she ordered. Lmao, well I was on drive thru bar during a rush, so I wasn’t about to get behind on all my drinks EVEN LONGER because she wanted to be an ass. So I walked away from her lol and ignored her, and my manager remade her dumb drink. Apparently she wanted extra ice so that it would fill up the venti up. It’s so funny how some people think they’re slick with the whole “grande in a venti cup.” Ugh.

Just wanted to say don’t worry yourself too much about drink modifications like the ones you mentioned!! Different milks or syrups aren’t really trouble at all. The ones that get on our nerves have like twelve different requests or the godforsaken tik tok drinks or “secret menu” items. Basically ordering “off menu” is what sucks. Asking for soy or an extra pump of mocha or adding cd isn’t what we’re complaining about, especially when you’re nice
