To the lady who threw their drink at m: (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by pettyanon12
You definitely should have tried harder to hit me. Are you mad OR BIG MAD? I apologized for the inconvenience it was. I’m sorry we ran out of caramel crunch topping. but I hope you have great day and spend your money elsewhere. :)

*she threw her drink at me. I gave her a refund and told her we are not serving her ever again. in addition to she wanted her frap remade after she threw it. Sike ;)
jessstress 218 points 2y ago
Fuck that lady. Glad it was iced and not a hot drink tho!
jadedrawseyes 59 points 2y ago
They could sue her if it was a hot drink tho 👀
broken-imperfect 89 points 2y ago
Even throwing a cold drink is technically an assault charge. They probably wouldn't face more than a fine but it's still an assault.
jessstress 10 points 2y ago
It's enough to get them banned too, and at least there's no risk of facial scarring from a cold drink lol
PortalOutVoyd 4 points 2y ago
Damage could happen to your eye tho. Regardless hot or cold.
jadedrawseyes 9 points 2y ago
I mean moreso that there’s injury with hot coffee
jadedrawseyes 5 points 2y ago
So there’s proof if there’s on camera
Gucci0313 8 points 2y ago
We had a customer grab a banana off the counter and throw it at one of the shifts because we wouldn’t give her free sandwich. Then proceeded to call us every name that George Carlin says in his stand up comedy routine 🤦‍♀️

Annnnnd that was the day I gave my 2 weeks! When we reopened after Covid we were “essential heroes”. 6 months later people were cursing at us and throwing drinks!! WTH?? It’s coffee, not a kidney....
DaybreakNightfall 47 points 2y ago
Who throws kidneys?! Lol jk I don't blame you, and totally agree.
zzid2d21 28 points 2y ago
Bwahahaha!!! I’m a Detroit transplant . We throw octopi :-) I’m on a waitlist to become a living kidney donor. That’s my bottom line on everything. Is it worth a kidney?
Fit-Nefariousness412 3 points 2y ago
I am also a detroiter!
justkeepswimmingswim 11 points 2y ago
I mean. It’s really not even coffee, it’s mostly just sugar. That’s what these people are getting mad about. Sugar. 😂
wtvrxo 5 points 2y ago
It’s an addiction, how else do addicts behave when they don’t get their fix 🤷‍♀️😳
justkeepswimmingswim 1 points 2y ago
Truuuuuuu
G37_is_numberletter 89 points 2y ago
That’s assault, yo.

Should have Xerox’d her driver’s license. She will not be welcome at this Chili’s again.
rudebii 73 points 2y ago
File a police report anyway. And if she comes back, have trespassed and get a restraining order against her.

Is Karen a serious threat, prolly not, but make an example of her. Throwing drinks at people like a child over not getting your (literal) candy is not ok and criminal.

You’re doing other customer-facing workers in the area a favor as well.
emmex125 59 points 2y ago
I had this happen to me! But in my case is was a long black (Americano) and left me with wicked burns up my arm, my store gave me the footage from the camera and I took it the police, they managed to identify her with the footage and the card she used to buy the order, and that crazy lady helped me pay for my tattoo 😂
The_walking_man_ 37 points 2y ago
Honestly, should have called the cops and pressed charges. That is assault. Don't let these disgusting excuses of society get away with this.
Should have said, give me one moment while i got about getting the refund set, and slipped off to call the cops so she just waited there as they showed up.
What the hell is going on with these people, and thank you Starbucks for continually putting us in situations like this with zero support.
tenthwalker 15 points 2y ago
Bold of you to assume the cops will come that quickly
GrandpaCody 2 points 2y ago
When someone called to shoot up our store last year our police were there in less than 5 minutes.
Edit:spelling
murphmanfa 12 points 2y ago
When someone made threatening phone calls repeatedly a couple years ago the police took more than half an hour to get there and then said that people were overreacting. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Accomplished-Claim94 33 points 2y ago
I’m surprised you didn’t jump over the counter to beat that women, because that would’ve been the moment I lost my job

Tomato_96 20 points 2y ago
Did you call the cops?
jdsalingersdog 13 points 2y ago
I’m sorry this happened to you. This place & these people are bonkers.
The_Septic_Shock 12 points 2y ago
You misspelled toddler, she was a toddler. Not even a toddler, toddlers don't really know how to behave, she should know better.
cringeqween13 11 points 2y ago
She wanted it remade with the topping you were out of that made her not want it...? Is there a mass grave with brains in it cause that lady is definitely missing hers. Also I would've wanted to scoop up what she threw and put it into a cup. *"Here ya go. Have a nice day"*
BusyLeek2351 10 points 2y ago
If she drank from it depending on your state due to covid that’s a federal assault.
rollerderbydyke 3 points 2y ago
Federal laws apply to all states.
TheYesExpress 10 points 2y ago
The day someone throws a drink at me will be the day I lose my job. Period. There’s no way someone’s getting away with assaulting me.

So sorry that happened to you. Fuck that lady. Ban her from every Starbucks ever.
ofmiceandshelbs 10 points 2y ago
Report that to your shift! They need to file stuff about it
OneRoseDark 5 points 2y ago
I'm literally at a point where I sing a little song about how it's time to file an incident report.
potterlyfe 9 points 2y ago
Yup. Had a lady chuck a venti hot peppermint mocha at me through the DT window. Luckily I saw it coming and slammed the window shut. All because ‘the other Starbucks doesn’t charge me for the peppermint!’
noob_trees 6 points 2y ago
If 60 cents makes or breaks you, skip the fucking coffee
sorrysmithy 1 points 2y ago
this infuriates me. ma’am does it look like december? peppermint mocha is a seasonal drink, so if you want your chocolate candy cane latte in june, you can pay an extra 60 cents.
YellowSphinx 7 points 2y ago
A lady threw a iced passion tea at my coworker because she told him she wanted it unsweetened but really she wanted Splenda added to it.. he started to remake it for her. But I told him to stop. If you want a new drink you’re going to pay for it because clearly you did what you wanted to do with the last one.
dzToffeeNuts 6 points 2y ago
I would always let them hit me with the Frappuccino. Then have my shift call the cops for assault. I always dodge the hot bevs though. Safety first and all that.
justkeepswimmingswim 12 points 2y ago
Uhhh how many times has a drink been thrown at you?
dzToffeeNuts 3 points 2y ago
8 year career in three states at 5 stores total, about 10 drinks. 3 by the same Karen. 2 by using my self as a human shield to protect green beans. 1 was an accident. And 4 were random asshole characters having a pissy day. Funny enough thats not why I left the company.
justkeepswimmingswim 3 points 2y ago
My goodness, I’m a green bean myself at the moment and I just can’t imagine that. Though I taught for 6 years, worked retail most of high school and college, and I was a waitress for a year so I know how people can be.

Just because I feel like someone owes this to you: I am so very sorry. No one deserves to be treated like that.
dzToffeeNuts 1 points 2y ago
Thanks. "Its just coffee." You will hear that phrase sooner or later. It applies for me in those situations. I'm just Glad I wasn't a knife salesman. Lol
bluedragon708 6 points 2y ago
God dam that’s is embarrassing to be her
indissolubilis 5 points 2y ago
I’m sorry this happened to you. My daughter works at a Starbucks in the DC metro area and has had this same thing happen to her. She has had people yell at her and insult her over a damn cup of coffee. During covid, the inside of their store was shut down. A sign was clearly posted on the door. My daughter told me that a customer pounded on the door for 15 minutes trying to get in. What surprises me is that it’s educated professional affluent people who are treating sbux employees like this. I just don’t get it.
rollerderbydyke 8 points 2y ago
They think we're beneath them.
ramblin_wrekt 5 points 2y ago
Should’ve remade the drink and thrown it at her, duh.
Submanaut 5 points 2y ago
Not that I would ever have the guts to do this but could you like pick the drink up and throw it back into her car and slam the window?
hallowolfyx 4 points 2y ago
pull the cameras and sue that monstrosity of a human
First-Recognition-45 2 points 2y ago
I never understood why people get so mad over a drink. It’s a drink. Baristas can’t control the supply chain lmao. I mean I’ve had my drinks made wrong or an ingredient was out a million times but I don’t take it out in the employee.
GirlGangX3 2 points 2y ago
Imagine being that made over a Carmel crunch topping.
oldmansbelt 2 points 2y ago
Haha remake it? Sure, lemme just slip into the bathroom rq.
Crazycoolcute 1 points 2y ago
I would of most definitely threw chai and mocha at her and walked out. What can I say I’m violent 🥰❤️
Catbug94 1 points 2y ago
What the crap bro I’m so sorry
hidethenight17 1 points 2y ago
God I’d be fired. I’d throw it right back
Kitty_Queenx 1 points 2y ago
Idk how baristas keep their cool. I would have thrown it back. The level of disrespect for yall is way too high.
sticks-and-moss 1 points 2y ago
It's sad that I have regular who would probably do this over the same thing. I hope the rest of your day is better.
