When green beans don't ask enough questions I start to get so irritated. (self.starbucksbaristas)

If your solution to every new employees mistake is to remake their drink for them instead of teach that new employee how to do it properly and let them learn and do the work you aren’t really doing much helping.

My first store was like this. It was a nightmare. Other barista’s were told not to help me on multiple occasions when I had a question. People would stop and snatch things out of my hand or move into my personal space with their body to force me out of the way and take over. This isn’t training, this isn’t teaching. I went to a new store and had great trainers and now I know what I’m doing and it’s really sad I spent the first five months of my time at Starbucks dealing with somebody who was so angry that I didn’t know things and they wouldn’t allow me the ability to learn and practice. I would apply some patience here.

I know what you're describing. I will admit there is some of that happening, but for the most part I do teach them to make the drinks. But our store is very high volume and we had a packed lobby and a packed drive thru. She never asked me how to make anything even though I kept encouraging her to interrupt me. I just don't understand why you would start something if you don't know what to do.

Our store is not the best for teaching people tbh. But you're right, I do need to work on my patience because I know I can be intimidating on the floor. But at the same time it's a lot of pressure for me to have to babysit people who shouldn't be forced on bar anyway. Just overall frustrating and I need to work on not taking that out on them, you're right.

This brought back a memory of when I first started working at Starbucks. My trainer wasn’t much of a trainer at all. Every 5 minutes he went out for a smoke break or ran to the bathroom, not exaggerating either. So I used drink cards to teach myself how to barista because I was often left by myself. Once he told me to put the cold brew in the pitchers. I hadn’t done it before so I made One pitcher the way that we made up iced coffee. Yes it was completely ruined. But he didn’t tell me. He just ran off. And I didn’t feel bad when he got angry at me.

This is such a sad story. I watched this girl get trained and I know how the person who trained her does it and this is not the case. At my store our trainers give out little guides and make as many drinks as humanly possible with the newbies

Good on you guys for taking care of your green beans! See when I first started I was the only lady barista that worked there at the time. it was me and a bunch of dudes. So even though i was by myself, people were happy to see me and were very understanding as I figured things out myself.

I still was not cool yesterday and I regret it. That's why I deleted the post, I think if I read someone talking about me like that I would quit and I don't want to hurt her.
