Question about sick time (self.starbucksbaristas)

help a partner out
i just have a question about sick time. say i were to leave starbucks and i have 40+ hours of sick time i never used cause i’ve always worked through it
will they be added to my last paycheck? and i able to use them on days i have requested off? (not for vacation) or will i simply lose them?

Sick time is not paid out. The only way to use it is calling out sick, or requesting time off for doctors appointments or to care for a sick family member (maybe a couple other things)
Sooommeeetimes your SM might approve adding sick time to your paychecks without you having called off, but they’re technically not supposed to

Yup, I’m a store manager and let my partners enter in sick time whenever we they want to supplement their hours. It makes no sense to me that
1. Make them call off in order to use them
2. The world fucking sucks right now and any little thing I can do to make my partners lives easier, I’m doing. So if they wanna throw in their sick time to get them more money that they’d otherwise be wasting, go for it.
I also RARELY have call offs and I’d like to think this helps support that. Especially since they don’t get it paid out when they quit, I’ll usually encourage them to put in some of their sick hours in the weeks leading up to their last day (assuming they put in a notice).
