I haven’t met mine, 4 months in

We just got a new DM and he’s such a cool guy so far. He came in to work a peak shift with us (I wasn’t there that day so idk how that went) so he got a taste of what we go through every. single. day. If it’s too busy to keep up/short staff then he’ll let us turn off mobiles no question (only if it’s the only thing that will truly help us). Brings us treats often and has been trying to help get more staff in our store. I’m hoping this isn’t just a ploy to get us to like him and screw us over later, but just bc he’s a good guy 😂

I think the position is inherently shitty. Like, it's the DEFINITION of middle management in a corporate sense. It must be hard NOT to use your authority over SMs and lower to get out your rage towards your higher ups (who in turn probably repeat the same cycle but at a higher and higher level til you get to the top). I'm not particularly fond of mine. She's definitely a ladder climber and an unethical one at that. Borderline sociopath almost. That said, I pay her no mind, she has zero idea who I am, and that's fine with me.

I like mine he’s very personable and easy to talk to, and he isn’t quick to blame us for how things are but tries to shift focus on how to do better, but It really depends on the DM they all have diff styles and goals and ways of achieving them. I’m sorry yours is being mean

When mine comes in he says hi but he definitely has favorites and doesn’t try to get to know the newer people at all. He basically walks in and then out. I’ve been here for almost two years and we have never had a conversation and he barely looks at me. So I guess he’s ehhhh...

Not at all XD Our last SM was his little pet project (she was an SSV for 1 year, (shitty) ASM for 3 months, then given a brand new store to run to the ground. She's no longer in the state :3), so he'd always hang out at our store and ruin the vibe. We had the highest CC score in the district and he made a big deal about giving our SM a little plaque and everything (as if she was on the floor more than once a month), and then once the baristas who actually cared about CC and Third Place or whatever ran off because they were treated like garbage, he got almost violently angry with us :) he's... Not the sharpest knife in the drawer I think

Ours is great, but my experience in previous jobs is mixed. If your DM isn’t listening to concerns it’s time to go higher up.
