Starbucks needs to stop bribing us with referral bonuses and work on finding the issue of why so many partners are quitting. 9/10 it’s a toxic work environment.

Also like, just pay us more

I miss the $3 raise, it made a noticeable dent in my pay stubs.
jonapoo12329 points2y ago

My SM is impossible to reach lol. We got a new one in march and we still have a handful of partners who have never even SEEN HER IN PERSON ????? Hello ?!? lol
hecaete477 points2y ago
God, I wish. My SM gives me anxiety. She herself is extremely neurotic and anxious and makes it a very awful work environment. I'd love to never see her again. We literally have better work days with a better flow, more productive, better times, etc. when she's gone.
ohhot-pot-ao2 points2y ago
Dude my SM gave me such bad anxiety, everyone in my store reported her to the DM, and he never did anything, so I put in the two weeks, and was so glad that it was over.
happypoptart022 points2y ago
I just got off and holy shit this morning was BAD !! Totally agree! By the end of june most of my store is leaving rip to us and the new people haha

Throwing out random info, but I work at a daycare/boarding facility, we are supposed to have 6 FT and 2 PT employees, before covid.
For the past 6-8 months we've been getting busy to the point of normalcy, and beyond due to covid puppies, and only had 4 FT and 2 PT. No raises to compensate the extra work, un willingly to hire moar people. I'm on vacation atm, and in the past 6 days we've had 3 people put their notice in, and I will do the same on Monday... moral of the story, pay your gears what they deserve if you want your machine to keep working
sheep_heavenly3 points2y ago
It's absolutely ridiculous. And it sucks that in caretaking jobs you get subtly or overtly guilt tripped over the quality of care the dependents can get, as if it's your fault for not working hard enough and not the company's fault for not providing the means to take care of them!
reddskeleton18 points2y ago
You guys will probably have to do some kind of worldwide walkout to get their attention!

my sm was talking to me about a bunch of stuff one day, and he said something along the lines of "the whole district just had a big staff turnover; i don't know why."
i literally had to bite my lip to stop from laughing.
Sambam12135 points2y ago
I know I’m an outlier here but my SM and DM are the best. Our pay isn’t too bad, I’ve been there for 2.5 years and get about $20/hr as a shift. I really like all my co-workers lol I’m an opener and we have a great team, we all get along really well! The closers might not feel the same way...
leekyabloh [OP]5 points2y ago
😮💨 Irrelevant to this post but glad you’re making $20+
The_Septic_Shock5 points2y ago
Same for us, it sucks :(

I recently just came back to my home store as a borrowed from my store i was at in college (for only about 4-5 months), not only did we lose so many people i knew when i started, but we have SO many partners completely walking out or putting in their 2 weeks and then getting so mad, they end up walking out or not showing up. we are hiring a bunch of new people but they’re mostly minors so it gets tough because of the restricted hours they can work and the breaks they need. it’s getting exhausting to work 7-9 days in a row in the 2nd busiest drive-through store in my district... it’s getting very tiresome and i’m excited to go back to my college store
nonnaan2 points2y ago
7 people just put in their two weeks or are about to, including myself. We're all night crew so I'm not sure what my SM is going to do. Oh well, maybe if we were paid more...
leekyabloh [OP]1 points2y ago
My transfer was recently denied because of recent corrections even though I’m moving upstate, and asked for a transfer a month ago. Anyways, leaving the Siren for a 2nd time and maybe for good. Only way I’d return is at Starbucks HQ.
colonade172 points2y ago
My store manager keeps complaining that he can't find staff to hire. And he forgets that the end of that sentence is "at the wages starbucks is willing to pay"
leekyabloh [OP]2 points2y ago
that PART
Paperclipwater2 points2y ago
Literally. I get pretty good pay and I enjoy being a barista, I just hate my shift supervisors and manager. They’re so nitpicky and micromanage everyone to the extreme.

RIP to my store in August a huge chunk of the closers and mid are leaving for college :(
