I'm fairly new to corporate, but I worked in a licenced store for years before. I'm solid on bar, and that's where I like to be. But I'm very rarely deployed there. I got 20 minutes of bar time my last three shifts, spending 12 hours on front! I really don't enjoy it, and I'm not even that great at it. I feel like I'm losing my touch not having any practice, and my potential is not being reached.
I thought it was just because I was newer, but two new hires are immediately sent a bar when they clock in and spend a lot of time there. It seems like our shift supervisors decide what role each employee has and keep them there. Not just for a shift, but that's their function. There are three people who are always sent to HHOP. Whenever I'm there I'm on front. What can I do to get more bar time? My manager is aware store manager is aware that I want to gain more experience there, and he sends me on bar when he is there, but my main shift supervisors barely send me there at all. Am I correct in that roles are chosen for you, and stuck to? I would love to break away from front!
