Should I feel bad for limiting my availability? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by slobberingapparition
Logically, I know the answer is no, but anxiety tells me "yes you should and you're going to get in trouble."

But, I was morning shift for my entire time here thanks to block scheduling. Now that block scheduling is gone, my manager is wanting to schedule me all over the place and I can't reasonably do that. My fiance and I share a car, so it would be really hard for me to get to and from work.

Anyone else have schedule change anxiety? Anyone have some advice for not feeling that way / some pick me up words? I'm shaking and I just put in the request.

I changed by availability because I couldn’t stand working mornings. Unless you are changing your availability to 2 days a week they probably won’t even mention it. You also have the transport conflict and they can’t argue with that.

I had anxiety about changing my availability. I think it’s always good to discuss the situation with your manager instead of just changing it for them to find. I know my SM appreciated that.

Also, depending on your staffing situation, I went from opening to closing and gave my SM time to find a replacement for opening. Definitely give your SM that option if it’s possible or needed.

Yes I I definitely have had schedule anxiety. Because of schooling I offered to work certain times on the weekends, but now and even then it was unsustainable for my mental and physician health!! I asked to change to mornings and honestly I felt so much better and when changing ability, I know I have to do what’s best for me so I can give my best! There will always be someone to cover the times you give up, don’t worry.
