I just started working at my local Starbucks and just curious as to how many hours as a part-time worker everyone gets :)
josherikt7141824 points2y ago
Right now due to us being understaffed we are all on 40+ hours as part time employees.
helpmeplz21911 points2y ago
lmao me too. was told she can only guarantee abt 20 but here i am working 40 hours every week
BadDadBot8 points2y ago
Hi working 40 hours every week, I'm dad.
iSpeakMeme20 points2y ago
Hi dad, I'm overworked
badatlife152 points2y ago
I’m assuming you mean at your store because that’s definitely not true all over
josherikt714182 points2y ago
Yes, unfortunately we are a small kiosk and had a team of 6 which let everyone work 20-30 hours ans we had 2 quit and now everyone is at 40+ while we train more.
badatlife152 points2y ago
That sucks :( Starbucks is my 2nd job, I work full time (40hrs) with my other job otherwise I feel like I would probably end up in a similar situation. I hope you are able to catch a break soon 🤞🏻
Agreeable_Tea334415 points2y ago
Short staffed so as a part timer I'm around 30 hours a week.
HeartsandPins8 points2y ago
It honestly depends! Two weeks ago I got 22, the following was 11.5 hours, ans now this week is 30. All over the place! 😅
fantasmicck6 points2y ago
20-30 has been what I’ve been getting
rosesandthorns175 points2y ago
asked for 25 pushing 40
loki86753094 points2y ago
I used to be getting an average of 20+ hours per week. But then my store hired 5 new people. I was already a new person. And I was hired with someone else. So now I’m down to about 15 hours per week (while the new people are getting 20+ so that really sucks).
moon_light5233 points2y ago
Honestly even if you’re part time they’ll give you any hours that you want. I normally range between 20 and 35 depending on my availability.
Most people who work at Starbucks are part time aside from managers in my experience
ContentAd4903 points2y ago
Years ago when there wasn’t a pandemic or mass people quitting I worked 23-32 on average. I think it super varies on your store.
badatlife152 points2y ago
I’m a part-timer and usually am right around 20hrs the last month or so it has sometimes spiked up to 25 because we’ve been short staffed, but we just got a few new green beans so it looks to be going back to where I’m good.
289partnerofq1 points2y ago
44 hours every week, and that’s on being an understaffed store😎
amrdlt1 points2y ago
understaffed, 5 days at 34-35 hours a week
El_Gabe69-4201 points2y ago
I'm one of the weirdos NOT getting 20 hours a week consistently. Last week I barely had 19.5 and this week I only got two shifts, with 12.5 hours. Very bittersweet 😬
hopelovepeace331 points2y ago
At my old store I was getting close to 40 hours but not exactly & at my new store I’m getting like 20 plus hours. I also went from a small store that had 20 something partners to a store that has 40 to 50 something partners
Sparklingghost1 points2y ago
35 hours but only because I have open availability.
sIowrain1 points2y ago
Usually I get about 22, but it really just depends. This last week I got 30
safespace281 points2y ago
lol 8 i’m ready to transfer
JeromeBaritone1 points2y ago
It is not true that every store’s partners are working 40 hours. As a new barista you should expect 12-28 depending on the severity of the staffing levels. It can get up to 40, but it will be very hard to hold that load for long as a new partner.
andrewmulhair1 points2y ago
Same as part time everywhere else tbh
lilkiosk1 points2y ago
I usually do around 20, but it varies based on my school availability and child care availability. I have done as much as 40+ hours and as few as like 8 (usually that low is only on a week I have time off scheduled though)
Alouria65981 points2y ago
13 hours....I'm looking for a new job now
kxylynjs1 points2y ago
i usually get around 20-25 but since my store is training new partners i’ve only been getting 8-12 :(
iSpeakMeme1 points2y ago
Normally part time would be around 25-30-ish hours a week but like everyone is saying, due to staffing issues most stores are working people full time hours
