May have left the oven on overnight? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Ivan_834
I just closed and just as I am about to fall asleep, I can’t recall if I turned off the last oven or not. Should I be scared of the store catching on fire? My manager says that although I shouldn’t be forgetting to turn off the oven, the store will be fine.

Don’t feel bad. One of my SSVs cleaned the ovens with the restroom cleaner because we were out of oven cleaner. The same one also left the coffee grinder on all night and when we came in the next morning it was so hot we couldn’t even touch it.

As I was reading this I was shocked to learn the grinder needed to be turned off at night. Then I realized you meant it was actually, physically trying to grind beans all night and I just… 😳

How in the blue hell do you leave the GRINDER ON? Like, did she just not hear the noise it was making? Was she grinding for a toddy and just ... Forgot to stop? I have so many questions.

With RESTROOM cleaner? That shit is toxic. Please tell me the oven was thoroughly, safely re-cleaned before food was made for customers in it and if not, poison control was contacted and the appropriate corporate reporting steps were taken. Was the SSV written up? What kind of idiot uses bathroom cleaner ok an OVEN?

Unrelated but I started an oven on fire with a cookie on Sunday 🤷‍♀️ that was fun

Why is it always the cookies??? I always tell my new baristas that if there is only one item they never walk away from in the over it better be the cookies

I literally opened the oven the second it beeped and saw flames. Panicked and threw it in the sink.

Wait that’s crazy. I accidentally left a warming paper in the oven for a really long time. When I opened the oven to clean it, the whole thing was black but nothing caught on fire lol

You should only be worried if you left flammable objects inside or around the oven

I've done this before and the store was fine.
