Today’s Starbucks will do little to prepare you to work anywhere else, everything is tailored and customized to only work for Starbucks (by design) I’m afraid.

But...it’s not terribly difficult to get into bar tending. With corporate chain experience, it might be easier to land a bar gig at a chain restaurant with bars (Applebee’s, Chili’s, etc.). You have experience working within that sort of corporate environment where every task is described in a binder and there’s a checklist for every shift.

Dive bars are also good places to start, especially “shot and beer” joints full of red-nosed regulars.

From there it’s not hard to jump to a bar where you can make serious tips.

The one skill set that does crossover is customer engagement skills. Being personable, friendly, and attentive to patrons are more important than knowing recipes (which you can quickly google anyway).

Ughhh I would love to be a bartender and make that guap but i feel like I would get sxualizd by old creepy men and i just cant be friendly in that situation lmaooo 😭

Just be one! No offense but you unfortunately could get sexualized by old men anywhere(I have working here), so you should do it anyway! Don’t let that stop you from something you really want to do.

I posted this question in the bartending sub Reddit and got a very good answer
