New Hire Questions (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ENDOFTlME
hello! i just got hired a week ago and the manager says she makes the schedule three weeks in advance, so i will start in two weeks because i have to be scheduled with a barista trainer. during the interview process, i let her know that i have a second job a few days out of the week, but i will be able to work anytime during the days i’m off and i’m available every weekend and holiday and she was totally okay with it. i have her the days i can’t work and i feel like she’s probably annoyed with it and she hasn’t replied about my start date or anything. is there a possibility that you can be fired before you even start? lol or do the managers just take this long

Nope, if your availability is not a surprise by the time she made the offer, she's not annoyed with it. I don't think you said exactly how long ago you gave her your availability, but managers have days off, may have days they only work on the floor and not on any admin stuff, and, you know, it's summer, so vacation may be involved. She may be needing to rearrange a planned schedule a bit and confirming your trainer can be available at the right times.

Hang tight, call the store if you think it's been too long or are hitting a deadline and need to know your plans, but it's unlikely that she's going to ghost you or whatever.

When do you start and when did you ask your manager about it?

She said I would start in two weeks so around June 20th, and I told her about my schedule during the interview process way before she offered me the position and she said she was totally okay with it. I’m not sure what to do lol

Yeah that’s weird. I guess I would give her a few more days before asking again.
