I can't take this much longer. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hey there. New shift, barely into my third week. My training consisted of three days. Cash and food, all i was trained on. I can feel the tense energy, so I hit my baristas with the "How are you doing? Are you comfortable here?" And all I get is, "Oh yeah, I'm doing fine 😀" Clearly no one is fine. I can't seem to get any fucking feedback from anyone, even my other managers besides "you're doing great!" I don't even know peak times. I don't know our goals. I don't know when to do breaks, lunches, because no one ever cared to explain. I have literally cried every other day because I've been a shift at every other place and I've done fine, but not here. Breaks are late, I forgot the lunch pull several times, because again, nobody fucking taught me how. How is $12.70/hr worth this shit. I just need someone to tell me it's going to be okay before I start crying for the fourth time today. I don't know, man.

Hey hun, take it slow. I promise, I got trained and I've STILL done all of these lol. It absolutely will be ok. I promise, the tense energy is not something you've created. That's just from everybody having to go through life and I'm guessing shortstaffing, shortages, etc. It's not you. You're gonna fuck up, no matter what. Training or not you're gonna have bad days. But you'll have really good ones too. A piece of advice: don't ask general questions like "am I doing ok"? Ask specifics. "How am I doing prioritizing tasks?" "Is there anything I can do to [insert whatever you want]?" And with asking baristas questions, try: "I thought [day] was a little hectic; how could I have helped you guys more?" Ask as many questions as you need, and if you're still not getting answers, it's time to have a talk with your SM about support. DM me if there's anything you need!
