DM was in our store Wednesday and decided another visit would be great today too 🙃 I was put on a lunch just as he came in so was spared from most feedback, but my SSV was clearly stressed and annoyed. I get back from lunch and SSV tells me to pull cold brew, SM says we're too busy to have me doing that, but we're completely out of cold brew, so I pull it and make kegs. By the time I'm done, we're still a mess, but so are dishes and trash, so I spend the rest of my shift doing dishes, trash run, and checking bathrooms. Since I wasn't on the floor, my SSV couldn't get her lunch, per guidance of SM and DM. When I left, along with the rest of morning shift, the only people on the floor were a green bean on register and SSV on bar, DM was still in the store talking to SM. My SSV is supposed to be off soon and has yet to get a lunch.
Not really sure what the point of this post was, other than DMs really shouldn't be getting on our backs about customer connections when we're clearly understaffed and other things need to be getting done. I usually like working, even if we're in a rush and understaffed, but throw in a DM visit and suddenly the SM and SSV are frazzled and the whole shift just becomes a mess.
