I wanna quit so bad (Venti rant) (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hey 299xxxx here and I’m so fed up with this fucking job. I had dropped out of college during the pandemic and needed a job so I can pay rent, utilities and all that. But after 3 months I really just don’t know how much longer I can deal with this.

Getting verbally abused by customers, being overworked, expected to do so many tasks and having co-workers that are just incompetent all for $12.25/hour is just too much. I’ve had high pressure migraines, panic attacks and chronic pain has flared back up because of this job. My store manager is an asshole that breaks rules herself but will criticize staff for dress code when she literally fogged the store with some shit from Home Depot because we have a fly problem.

I’ve called out for serious issues and have been met with passive aggressive responses. Ex: my roommate’s mom passed away and I was asked to go to the funeral and of course I’m going to go. I couldn’t find anyone to cover and my manager told me “well I don’t have anyone to replace you because I already have too many call outs” and then didn’t get back to me.

I’m trying to apply to so many other jobs so I can leave but I can’t yet because I need income so I can pay my bills. Yet I keep calling out because I don’t know if I can go another day with the high pressure and unrealistic expectations.

This job may be for other people but I just can’t do it anymore.

Try indeed. I love my store, but I need more money and I’ve had so many offers.

Maybe try transferring to another store (if possible for you) and see if that’s better! If there are any other stores close by go talk to their SM and see if they need people. We had two people from a nearby store transfer because they didn’t like their SM. Do what’s best for you! Some SMs just really suck.

Hey hang in there we've all been there! You quit this you'll have to go without money for a while. Dont forget you have bean stocks you can sell to. Just hang in there tell you find better work

sounds like this is a new partner, bean stock benefits don’t kick in till after you’ve been with the company for one year. and then you have to own any stock grants for another year while they vest before you can sell.

Damb! Well I've been lucky I had mine though. It's gotten me through quarantine safely. I still had to deal with my work bullies for two and a half years though. It took me that long to find a better job.

This is to OP. This was one of the hardest jobs I've ever had to deal with in my life. Everyone is gonna test you from coworkers to small children on TicToc. Its given me thicker skin that's for sure. But this job is a good reference for showing how well you deal with shit on every level and for right now it can help you tell you find a new job.

Hey old sport, I’ve been in a somewhat similar position these last couple of weeks. I work at a licensed Starbucks in a Target. All but two baristas quit two weeks ago and I’ve been having to open the store at 1pm by myself and then close at 7pm to have everything clean by 9pm. The first two days of this were hell and I was dead at the end of shifts. I was super stressed and ready to quit. But then I talked to HR about this and she just told me to take it easy. No one was expecting me to carry the store on my back. So the next day I took things slow and helped guest at a steady pace. I was still tired at the end, but not nearly as much and not nearly as stressed.

I guess what I want to say is to take it slow. I want to say that your first priority should be to book it. Get a new job where you’re not as stressed. But for the mean time, just chill. Work slow and steady and get through the day. If your manager says something about it, tell them that your just really tired because they’re overworking you. But yeah. I know being told to not be stressed can feel like empty or dumb advice, but it really helped me
