Am I fired..? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PK_Pixel
So today marks about a month working here. Manager seemed to like me and everything was going great. Well.. I didn't want to miss work more than anything, so I came and was obviously hungover. My manager saw me, and asked if I came hungover. I said yes and apologized on the brink of tears. She told me to go home, and that she would be talking to her boss, and then told me to expect a talk 2 shifts from now... am I fired.

edit: this behavior is not typical of me. I always show up early and have picked up the job pretty well for my time here.

As a general rule of thumb, always deny. What you do or do not do on your off time is just that, your time. No good ever comes from telling work the truth, no matter how cool your SM/Shifts are.

Yeah, as long as you show up and do good work, as a shift I'd be fine with you coming in hungover. A few of my partners come in super loaded but they don't give me a lot of problems so I don't say anything. If they did do anything I had a problem with I'd tell them first, then maybe remind them again, then I'd go to the sm only after I've already talked to them. I feel like a shift is just a barista with keys so idk why other shifts hold themselves in such high esteem sometimes

Doubtful that you’re fired. I mean, everyone needs the help these days.

Even more so I’m sure if you were a good employee prior they wouldn’t want to fire you. After all it was only one occasion and not typical of you right?

Maybe just a talking to about professionalism, probably a probationary period of some kind.

It will probably just be a write up at most. Nothing that detrimental.

Deny. Deny. Deny. Say you have a bad headache

You shouldn’t be I mean you came hungover not drunk?

Always deny. But also, what you do outside of work is none of their business. It’s not like you came to work drunk out of your mind.
