Had a rough day. Day dreaming about ways to get rich. The end.

I’m sorry, OP. I have a lot of days like that too, but things get better. Shitty day after shitty day really hurts.

Everyday is like this for me. Currently learning to code so I can get a job that actually pays well

I taught for 6 years. Didn’t make enough and didn’t go back during the worst of covid. Started working at Amazon, that eventually got to me. Quit and started at Starbucks almost a month ago, this isn’t it either bruh.

Sick of working while I’m just barely making it while millionaires and billionaires get richer off our backs. And I still don’t have time for anything. I feel ya!

I put my two weeks on my manager’s desk last night. I feel you.
Stella_2020 [OP] 2 points 2y ago
I am a store manager and a new one at that … I got two notices and they weren’t two weeks notices I’ve only been here a week. On my second day it was three baristas last shift.
acelestialgay 2 points 2y ago
Oof, that’s rough. I’m sorry you’re going through this, friend! I know at least on my end, my manager’s great, I love her and I love most of my fellow partners. I just can’t handle the rest of it anymore, physically or mentally. It’s hard times for us all right now.

yeah :// things will get better. i’m in high school, so i don’t have to live off what i make at starbucks, but i’ve thought about that and im like what the hell….. and at least in my state, starbucks pays well over the minimum wage. i have a friend who recently graduated, and both them and their girlfriend work full time, but they’ve had to make multiple fundraisers just to be able to afford living. it really really sucks. and everybody thinks service industry workers are all teenagers so they don’t need a livable wage, but i’m pretty sure i’m the only person under 20 at my store. i’m at least the only high schooler. idk. i’m sorry bro :( i really hope things get better for u

Perspective is everything.

Edit: I got downvoted but to be honest it’s fine either way. Everyone wants to be rich, Starbucks sucks most of the time and 44 people had the means to either go on their phone or computer and downvote me. That’s life. Those same people most likely woke up in a bed and were able to walk to a kitchen sink and drink relatively clean water. Perspective is everything.
MawcDrums 40 points 2y ago
And the perspective down here at the bottom is pretty friggin bleak and hopeless.
Twentysixounces -5 points 2y ago
That’s a bummer man. At least you have an outlet like Reddit to engage some of that down time.
MawcDrums 5 points 2y ago
Okay so I'm posting from my phone which is about to be shut off tomorrow until I get paid again on Friday, but I'm not going to explain my woes to someone who clearly doesn't understand the red herring they've thrown into this conversation. Just because someone can post on Reddit doesn't mean they have no right to demand a better life. You're the one who needs a perspective shift.
Twentysixounces -3 points 2y ago
Phone may be shut off but luckily that doesn’t determine your own personal value. Stay positive and you will get out of it. Good luck.

I upvoted you. 😊 I’m a relatively happy person but it’s been a week as a new sm and everything that could go wrong is going wrong. I hate failing and most of all I hate her people under me are treated unfairly and that’s all I heard was happening, unfortunately I got here too late and now I have two older employees and a whole lot of new people.

What are you doing to put yourself in a better situation?

Are you pursuing a degree? Looking at higher paying jobs? Trying to climb the latter into management?
blue-agate 6 points 2y ago
*looks at the amount of people with degrees who cannot find jobs in this economy with giant loans they took out to get their degrees* this seems pretty tone deaf given the state of the job market ATM
clarinetpjp 0 points 2y ago
Sorry! I meant to say that you should whine about your situation and not look to improve it at all!
blue-agate 2 points 2y ago
Lol, gotta love the good ol “pull yourself up by the bootstaps” logic. Go kick rocks :)
Stella_2020 [OP] 2 points 2y ago
Actually I am the store manager… for a week and the store I got thrown into is a disaster to say the least… it’s a licensed store but I was with corporate for 5.5 years and honestly I had it so so so good. I’m a relatively happy person.. in a week I’ve been drained of my energy.
