Will starbucks hire baristas for 10-15 hours a week? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by alphabetcarrotcake
I am a student and I would like to get a job at Starbucks but I know that to get in retail they prefer more hours. I prefer 10 because I am so busy during the year but do not think I will get hired with that. How many hours do you usually work?

It extremely depends on the store

Adding that you’ll have a better chance if you’re at least applying during summer/winter break and are open to working more like ~30hrs. As a new barista, training and retention working only 10-15 hrs per week isn’t easy. You’d be there three months with one month of experience and three times as long to forget what you’ve learned. I never saw anyone hired straight into working so little hours.

Yeah it really does depend on the store. I would apply to multiple locations online and call around and see if that availability works for them. You’ll probably have more chances at a less to moderately busy store than a store that gets absolutely swamped with customers all the time.

If you can commit to 2-3 firm days a week, firm 10-15 hours availability for at least one year, I’d hire you right now. Believe me, there is absolutely a store around you that needs a good weekend warrior or a 2-3 day a week opener or something like that. Send your application to as many locations as you can realistically commute to and someone will call you. But, it may not be the closest store to you, just so you know. Beggars can’t be choosers tbh. Good luck!

Edit: this is coming from an ASM, I’m doing the hiring in my store and for stores around mine right now. We’re fucking desperate.

I’ve worked at a cafe and a drive. I will tell you that 10-15 hours is mostly an average amount of hours at a lot of sbux. I work 30 because I support myself, but it sucked because the sm had to cut hours from 4 other people. Long story short, yessss you will be fine with 10-15
