I just started and am unclear on the free coffee situation (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hi all!
I just had paperwork day and was given my partner number. My store manager tells me that you can have free coffee and one food item when you work, which I can see is the policy. She also told me that since covid you can go in once a day and get a coffee and food item even if you're not working. Is that true? I don't want to be embarrassed by not having money when I get there.

Yeah that is true, you are entitled to one drink before your shifts, one during your break, and one after your shift. You are allowed to have one food item for your entire shift. And you’re right, you’re allowed to have one drink and one food item for free once a day.

Technically it’s unlimited drinks during your shift, but you can only have one at a time!

I think it can vary per store because my manager only allows 3 drinks per person.

You can check the partner guide - it specifically says “one food item and any coffee, tea, or blended beverages while on break” and “a partner may not receive more than one free beverage at a time”
So technically it’s only limited to one at a time, but you’re only supposed to order it on your break so functionally getting one per break makes sense
(Not saying argue with your manager lol, but the policy says otherwise!)

Report her to PRC, because that’s really messed up. She cannot change company policy to that.
