I'm a green bean and have a question about requesting a day off! (self.starbucksbaristas)

I have an event I'd like to go to in about a month and want to make sure I have the day off. In the scheduling app there's an option to request a day off. Does this use a sick/ vacation day? In other part time jobs I have been able to tell my manager ahead of time that I want to make sure I don't work on a specific day without necessarily using a vacation day, although I actually don't know if I've ever had vacation days before. Basically looking for advice on how to go about this. Thanks!

nope, that’s just you requesting not to be scheduled that day!
to use vacation hours, you would book the time off like so, and then later on you’d write in the book (in store) that you want to use vacation hours.
to use sick time, you would call in sick, and later write in the book that you want to use sick hours. i think you can also do so for doctors appts and such.
