transfer or apply? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by jules_n217
i might be moving 4 hours away and i’m not sure if it’s best to try and transfer stores or just start applying to the starbucks stores in that area?

i don’t even know how i would bring up the transfer, i moved to a new store a little after the new year because mine closed down :( and i feel like my current manager doesn’t really like me. i also feel like i don’t fit in with the workers so i know i’d be so awkward and freaked out talking to my SM about transferring.

If you're already a Starbucks employee, you can't apply to other stores as if you aren't. You'd have to quit first. Look, let's assume you're right about your manager's and coworkers' feeling about you, since I have no knowledge to the contrary. If you're also decent at your job, this is the ideal combo for transferring without a fuss. They don't have concerns about you as an employee, but no love lost between you and them when you leave, so go without guilt.

Also, if you lead with I'm moving 4 hours away and need your help to transfer to a local store, there's not a lot of argument to be had. Not like you'd be able to commute if you really wanted to. It just is what it is in that case.
