If you’re a partner and you come into my lobby without a mask on, even if you’re fully vaccinated, I have NO respect for you tbh(self.starbucksbaristas)

This might be an un popular opinion. we’re not ready to go unmasking. Especially where I live (it’s a very red county) and I know customers coming in aren’t vaxxed. But there’s partners from my own store or from other stores who I know who come in without a mask on. I know the vaccine works well but there’s still a 10% chance of getting Covid. It’s about being courteous, and partners should understand that since we’re now stuck behind the bar, with a whole lobby of unmasked customers, who we can’t confirm if they’re vaccinated or not.

Ok, so i am a fully vaccinated partner and I have been for a couple months now. Usually when I come into my store I don’t have a mask. The reason is because when im done with a previous shift my mask usually has mocha or other syrups on, which causes it to look bad and also smell bad. I don’t wear a mask until I get to the back room where we have masks. After this I put it on and wait till I can clock in.

I'm just gonna say this. Keep wearing your mask, washing your hands and sanitizing everything. What others do regarding their health is none of your business.

if you’re that worried, why don’t you get vaccinated

I am vaccinated. But there’s still a 10% chance of catching Covid. Especially since the delta strain is starting to spread in the US, and that ones even more infectious. I know that my surrounding community doesn’t have a high enough percentage of people vaccinated for this to be safe yet. We’re just not ready to move forward to no masks yet

Regarding this 10% you're throwing around: that's not how it works. If you are fully vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna you have about a .5% chance of having a breakthrough infection. You're likely referring to the 90% effectiveness rate, which means you're 90% less likely to contract covid after an exposure as compared to an unvaccinated person. If the dopes where you live aren't vaccinated, they likely won't ever be, and they sure as hell aren't suddenly going to start worrying about anybody else's wellbeing. It is what it is.
