Proper etiquette for using partner card at drive thru? (self.starbucksbaristas)

New partner here! I used my partner card in the drive thru the other day, the barista seemed a bit annoyed when i asked to use it. I thought about it and I wasn’t sure if there is some sort of procedure to follow or unspoken rules? i don’t want to upset anybody and i definitely don’t want to make anyone’s job harder, so please let me know if there is a process! :)

Etiquette for using partner numbers (USA at least) is usually that you order as normal. When you get to the window they’ll tell you the amount due and then you say “I have numbers” or “I’d like to use my number” or some variation. Then they pull up the screen and you can verbally give them your numbers. I’ve noticed that people don’t really ask to see ID or a partner card in my district but it is official policy to do that so you might then be asked for proof and you can show photo ID or your partner card. Hope that helps.

What's a partner card? If it's like using partner numbers though afaik they have to be used prior to payment, like stars.

You can order a physical partner card on my partner info. It's like a gift card. You just have to access it at work.
