I worked at a store today where I did not have to make one singular t*kt*k drink. None. Nobody who came in pushed their phone in my face asking "can you make this". No mobile orders with 6+ mods, or people placing them in the drive thru. We had a lot of outages and no bad behaviour from customers. I'm convinced it was a fever dream.

Pretty sure you need to go get a lottery ticket. Luck is on your side.

We got your weirdos and undesirables, I think. Last order of my shift was a lady who asked for, "A tall coffee with ice. Light." DTO/DTR was slammed and I had a second so I took over the headset for a minute to clarify. "A tall iced coffee with light ice? Or a tall hot, brewed coffee with light ice?" and she said, "Tall brewed coffee with light ice." To clarify, I asked again: "So, a tall, HOT brewed coffee with light ice?" and she said, "Yes. A tall, hot, brewed coffee with ice. (long pause) Light. Light coffee." And so I asked, "Light ice or our lighter, blond roast coffee? Or do you want milk in it and less coffee?" And she said, "A tall brewed coffee. Light. Ice. Regular brewed coffee. Ice. Light. This isn't that hard, I don't understand the problem." I was like... "?"
So, I made her a tall blonde roast with light ice. She got to the window, **took the coffee from the barista**, *took a sip.* Made a face. "This is wrong. It's supposed to be sweet."
He asks, "Okay, you'd like some sugars, then?"
"Yes. Two."
We give her two sugars, she drinks again.
"This isn't right. It's supposed to be in a clear cup. And it's usually colder than this."
"Okay, so a tall iced coffee with light ice and 2 sugars then?", my DTO/DTR clarifies.
"Yes."
I make her a tall iced coffee with light ice, 2 sugars. **She takes it** *and takes a sip*, then says,
"It's not the right color. And it's usually big. It's usually just like that one right back there, exactly like that one (points to the line of drinks we wanna hand out to cars after hers, specifically at a Venti Cold Brew with 4 pumps white mocha, 4 pumps s/f cinnamon dolce, with vanilla sweet cream, vsccf, and cinnamon dolce topping).
Barista reads sticker to her and she reaches for it. It's literally not the drink she ordered at all and it's the lady 2 or 3 cars behind hers. She wants it, or one exactly like it, and she's not willing to pay the difference because, "You guys messed up my drink and I've been waiting 5 minutes now for the right one!"
Shift leader said, "Just give it to her."
\*cries tears of pettiness and frustration on the inside\*

Christmas was a fun time with the peppermint mocha.
Lady wanted a peppermint mocha. So I made it. She came in, said it was wrong. So I remade it, ingredient by ingredient. “iT’s StIlL wRoNg!” So, I explained what I put in **ingredient by ingredient**. She react, “dOn’T sAsS mE!” I replied, “but… I didn’t?”
She lefted. And that was before “Karen” became a trend…..

What did the she-devil end up wanting?
TemplarSensei713 points2y ago
Bahaha, “she-devil.”
She left with the “wrong drink,” but I guess her “version” of peppermint mocha.
Now I remember, she said that there was no peppermint, but I told her that I did put it in.

Ooh our shift don’t play the “you f u c k e d up my order” we had a mid 40s couple come through DTO and said “can we get Two grande GTF with WC. They are remakes” DTO was like no problem. Lemme go look in The Book, what’s your name. The couple were like “ oh we’re not in the book. Jimmy (our SM) said he didn’t need to put it down because he knows us” the two shifts on the floor looked at each other and were like uh sorry. No name in book, no free drinks. You can come back when our SM comes back from vacation in 4 days. The couple then proceeded to insult our shift leads. All us baristas were snickering because the damn couple acted worse than a 2 year old throwing a tantrum.

Honestly, I have only been shown a phone screen or had some kind of crazy drink once or twice in the past few months and rarely get crazy orders, most of my customers orders are very standard so idk what’s going on where u guys are I guess I’m just lucky
Joenathanishere14 points2y ago
I was a partner from summer 2018 to summer 2020, and I rarely got insane orders during that period. Are tiktok drinks really a daily thing now? I knew it was bad, but holy crap do I not miss being a partner…

I always say that these people do not like coffee, they like sugar. It’s so gross to me!!!! I understand getting Starbucks once in a while but I don’t know how these people get this shit as often as they do. And feed it to their children. Like…wut
rozu19961 points2y ago
At a certain age coffe is not the worst thing to give to your child. Like my dad even let my brother drink it at 4 cause he had really bad asthma and like read up “stunting your growth is a myth” like tbh i used to be the same way. Like the taste of black coffee was gross and i had to get it sweet plus it still woke me up a bit with the sugar and caffeine too. But like drinks like WCM are already so sweet. Also I’ve grown up a bit as well my go to is the salted caramel cold brew. And i can even drink the blond black as well. Like i gotta have a little bit of flavor and sweetness. Just the wcm with the caramel is hella popular and idky lol. I feel like they would be weird together as well
justkeepswimmingswim1 points2y ago
Yeah ok but they’re not giving their children coffee, they’re giving them drinks loaded with sugar. And even so, I’m pretty sure caffeine messes with development. It’s a substance and even adults are supposed to limit caffeine intake.
That’s besides the point though, these children get handed venti Frappuccinos and look like they do not need any more added sugar in their diets.
rozu19960 points2y ago
Every kid who i see get a venti frap is skinny too. Also it is indeed a myth about coffee stunting your growth too. Lol my dad did TONS of research on it when my brother was 4 going through asthma attacks cause he has asthma too and he was told coffee helped. He even asked doctors and they said its a myth. My brother is also like 6ft lol
