(I’m fully aware this is absolutely disgusting) Unfortunately the TL never taught us how to clean these pieces to the whip tops properly and they seem to be molding. Is there any way to deep clean them, or should we just toss them all? (i.redd.it)

...I have never seen anyone clean these and didn't even know that they could be disassembled to this degree.

You are NOT the only one! I was at my store for 1.5 YEARS and it wasn’t until I transferred to a new store for college that I learned how to take them apart. Unscrew the white nozzle of the whip lid and this (pictured) is the piece that it screws onto. You can pull it out and wash it! Even if you run the entire lid through the dishwasher there will likely still be milky residue on this piece. Then you just put it back in and screw it all back together!

I’ve been with starbucks for 5.5 years, and I was never taught this 😬

Toss em and request a new one, don’t tire yourselves out… it’s pretty hard to remove

That’s what I figured but thought I’d check with you guys first… literally so nasty

This happens to the seal of the tumblers that we sell too.

EDIT: any advice on how to maintain cleanliness of these once we get new ones is greatly appreciated as well

We put ours in a baby bottle basket and then they go through the wash super easily. I work at a tarbucks so the basket was easy for us to acquire.
blobinsky [OP] 2 points 2y ago
Oh interesting - same here for the tarbucks! Ecolab (if you have them where you are) doesn’t have an issue with the basket not being “starbucks approved”?
George734 3 points 2y ago
Ecolab has never said anything about it since it's food safe. We stole the idea from our old pizza hut crew.

Bleach is the only way.

At my store, we just disassembled the whole whip heads before washing. It honestly does not take much time when you’re used to it..
