This is why I quit. They didn’t respect my time or my requests. They kept scheduling me 12-14 days in a row

Fuck no. My SM quit along with 2 other shifts and 3 baristas so i SHORTENED my availability to 4:30-11:30 only 3 days a week. Im OUT before 12 and if this store is burning idgaf

Also, if you’re gonna get overtime then it needs to be actual overtime and not just 30 minutes. I need at least 5 hours of overtime cuz if im gonna be here EVERYDAY y’all better pay up

That’s insane, I hate it when managers in Canada schedule for 4h 45m to avoid giving us a lunch, but 5h 45m with just a ten minute break???

Those shifts can suck. But it kind of makes sense. If we were there for 15 minutes longer, we would get paid for 15 minutes less. So it wouldn’t help anybody to have a 6 or 6.5 hour shift.

I always argue we should get 2 tens before the 1 ten and a lunch at the 6 hour mark.

You're required to clock out on the time sheets you might wanna check your pay stubs making sure they're not modifying your punches and having you work during your required lunches

What angers me most about this, is I’m sure you’re not the only person working 7 days, and not the only person working 7 days AND baby shifts. If you have 2 people alternate for a 8-9 hour day for opposite days, the opposite person could have a day off. Yeah, the end of that day you might be a little more tired than usual, but at least you would get to run your errands, or have a lunch date with a friend. Scheduling 7 days is legit unacceptable, and avoidable, and it’s a very high factor in burn out and employee turnover.

My store has been the same way. My summer classes start in a week and I requested to have 20-25 hours. Instead I’ve been scheduled closer to 35 each week because we can’t seem to hire enough ppl. And we lose 3 shift supervisors in a week when they move. FML

At my Starbucks we're currently sending people home early even if they don't want to to save hours lmao

That's crazy. I'm in Cali, and anything over 5 is an auto lunch. So we get alot of 4.75 hour shifts cuz then it's just a 10 that they gotta give us. That and then 6.75 cuz then they don't have to give the last 10.

it’s illegal for an employer to schedule for 7 days without a one day break somewhere in there unless you voluntarily ask for that.

I don't think that's true on a federal level. Often the things we think are illegal are actually state laws in places with great worker protections.

Holy shit, Today I Learned. Texas having any worker protections AT ALL is literally bizarre. Looks like it was definitely put in place so christians could go to church on Sundays.

Yepppp, tomorrow I go into 7 days straight of working. Manager just called to add hours on to half of the shifts because of people quitting. :|
