Just thinking about how much I love that my week day availability doesn’t start until after 5 and my temporary store manager loves to “forget” that when scheduling me. Yesterday, I was scheduled to come in at 4. Today, I’m scheduled to come in at 2:30. Because 5 is just a suggestion. Let’s also talk about my approved LOA starts on July 1st and I have 3 shifts scheduled for after that.

My old store kept doing this to me. I have a church side job on Sundays, the church is about 45 minutes away from the Starbucks I work at. When I told them I get out of my church job at 5, they were like “so 5:15 is good for you? great!”

I told them no, that was not ok, multiple times. They NEVER listened. They even started scheduling me at 4:30, I literally missed the Easter celebration at my church because they threatened to write me up. I also had classes Mon-Thurs from 11am-3pm, and my school was 30m away from my store. They kept scheduling me for 1:30pm.

I left <3 If they’re going to act like their time is more of a priority than yours, then they don’t respect you as an employee nearly as much as they need to. I’m not saying quit like I did, but definitely put your foot down. You shouldn’t have to pester for the bare minimum.

Yeah. Fortunately, right now, this is okay because my schedule is this way for school and child care reasons, but my son is currently with my ex and it’s summer so no school until late August. And also fortunately, by the time I’m back from leave, our normal store manager will be back who is great at respecting schedules/availability/time off. So I definitely am not quitting over this - even though it has been a long 3 months of this kind of thing for all of us at my store. Just annoying for sure. Especially because I get calls from this temporary store manager on days off and hours before I’m supposed to come in TELLING me that I’m coming in early or at all not asking. Especially rude when I’m the one person at the store with a kid and she knows that. Glad it’s drawing to a close though.

I was a SM for over ten years. Your TLA manager is a tool. I recommend you call partner resources ASAP since you’re head to LOA soon anyway👍
