It’s a slippery slope doing special treatment. I only did for regulars. Got to annoyed hearing that exact thing lol

Same reason you don’t feed the bears at campsites

It’s never been a problem saying “No” won’t solve tbh

We have (had? haven't seen her in a while) a regular that came in for caramel brulee. She lived for that stuff and ordered caramel white mochas the rest of the year trying to get close.
We had it early once and I made it for her, telling her we weren't supposed to be selling it yet and I was doing her a favor this time because I knew how much she liked it.
The next day she came back and tried to order it "bUt I gOt It HeRe YeStErDaY"
Last time I ever did something nice for a regular.

I had a guy and his girl come in and SHE asked if I could make a Carmel ribbon hot. I looked at her and went " those are only for frapp drinks, they don't come hot". To which HE retorts " that other black girl does it for me, why SHE won't just do it?". By the way, he didn't even say it to me, he basically said it under his breath, out loud. At the time, I was training someone and I looked at her when he said it and pointed to her, then walked away. She made it as best she could. Never saw them again. I really wanted to fight at that point cuz there's legit a picture of a Carmel ribbon right above my head, frapp, not hot. Don't give me side attitude and expect me to be nice. You lose every time.

I had customers who aren't rude ask the same thing so I explain its a recipe for a frap but I can modify a latte the best I can basically adding dark Carmel and a Carmel drizzle with crunchy toppings. I also explain it's gunna cost a bit more cause of the charges for the extras. But only do this if your feeling generous

If he had behaved like an adult and actually asked me to, I probably would have but, he felt entitled to have it made that way just because someone did it for him without question. I wish I could have said "You get nothing, you lose! GOOD DAY SIR!!!!" But I probably would have gotten fired...🤷🏾♀️

I always go “thanks for letting us know we’ll make sure to retrain our staff on that :)” usually works
jropdamaniac3 points2y ago
Yeeeeah this is why I say no. Also happy cake day 🍰

LOL I made a comment about that earlier today work. Because my coworker told me that he asks everybody if they want more milk in their shaken espressos every time he makes one LOL like I get sometimes we make an exception and then we should tell the customer “hey I’m doing it this way for you but other Starbucks stores probably won’t” instead of letting all the customers go away angry at everyone else 😂😩

god i go hoarse trying to explain this to my coworkers
bryceofswadia2 points2y ago
I always tell people when I do a favor for them that I’m doing a nice thing but that someone else probably won’t do don’t be surprised if that happens.

Yeah had a lady complain her drink didnt taste right, looks like all the other stores in our area were using hot bar pumps instead of cold bar pumps. Our new shift that transfered from a dif store told me i was wrong, about 10 min later after looking up the correct receipe my shift apologized to me.

So you’re rewarding bad behavior, knowing that in this instance you’re breaking the rule for them, so they’ll make sure to abuse it at your store again or other stores?

This is exactly what I'm talking about tho, because you can tell them that all you want but all it does is show them if they make a big enough fuss they'll get whatever stupid thing it is they want, which they bring into my store. It's annoying as fuck and u contribute to it lmao

Maybe I just don't like it when people come in and make my job harder bro 😭😭
IfuDidntCome2Party-4 points2y ago
Exactly.
Want a hot caramel ribbon latte? They paid for it. Make it the best you can, like the many tik tok drinks that doesn't exist on the menu.
It's a freaking drink. You're not building a new house. They paid for the drink. Get over it, or clock out.
IfuDidntCome2Party1 points2y ago
Are you not suppose to make a TikTok drink too, because it's not on the menu???
If it's rung up and paid for, it's perfectly OK to make the special order drink to the best of your ability.
You can't get fired for making a special request drink that was paid for. Contact Corporate Office if you are in doubt. Be sure to record it so it can go viral.
