Today is my final shift at Starbucks. It’s been a wild ride. My store’s gone through over five manager changes, a pandemic, and is located in my city’s busiest mall. I got a job in the Arts Sector (what I trained in. Excited!) and decided to give my notice after my manager wouldn’t accommodate my request for a transfer. I’m cutting ties to save my sanity. I also reported my problematic manager to District and am NOT staying to see how that turns out. Customers over the course of the pandemic have become even more rude, and dealing with them isn’t worth the pittance we make. I’ve literally had panic attacks every day I work since the pandemic started. I won’t miss my gaslighting manager, Happy Hour, malfunctioning equipment, or the creepy regulars. Thanks for 3 years, Starbz, I’m getting my nails done tomorrow and am looking forward to visiting from the other side of the counter! 💚

I hoped it would get better over the years, and it did for a while, then it got a whole lot worse. Overall it’s no longer worth the time and energy

Starbucks' decay coincides with the decay of capitalism lmaooo

It's so strange how it mirrors a toxic personal relationship too. You can only leave when you make up your mind to leave.

In that sense, I left six weeks ago lol. Made up my mind six weeks ago

In the same way, I have some healing to do. This job has made me feel like a shittier human, and I know that’s not true, but I can’t stop feeling like shit

You're better than that!!! I hope you do find healing and joy even though it's been beaten out of you.

You did what you could and that's enough. Proud of you and anyone who has the guts to make big changes in their life. :)
