That is not policy in the US. Our termination policy regarding absences is based on written corrective actions. If you're too ill to effectively schedule and be able to count on you to really be there pretty consistently, your manager will have to have a conversation with you about what is a realistic schedule you can have, but it would be a more collaborative conversation than a termination.

ETA: also, omg, being sent home sick after you made the effort to come in and try your best because it's not a contagious thing is not on the list of fireable offenses.

From one autoimmune sufferer to another, protect yourself by applying for FMLA. When you call off for issues regarding your disease, you also call Sedgwick and let them know you called out FMLA. This will protect you from being reprimanded for your disease. Your doctor will sign you off on a certain amount of allowable days off you may need. Mine, for instance, is three days a month plus one day for a doctor's appointment.
Even if the point system isn't a real thing, it's still a good idea to talk to your doctor and Sedgwick about it!

You don’t have to find coverage that up to your manager or shift

Before I quit I was yelled at for failing the covid coach and not finding coverage. My manager ended up saying because I knew why I threw up that I had work (when I didn’t really and originally thought it was food poisoning which I shouldn’t be working with)

That’s my tiktok—-sorry if I’ve caused you anxiety. I actually read about it on this subreddit. I was talking about it as what I had read—and based it on my experience working for Sheetz and THEIR point system. It’s something being spoken about amongst baristas rn so I have no idea if it’s actually going to happen—just was saying that it’s not gonna be good if it DOES happen.

It is happening! My manager mentioned it in our last shift meeting. She was doing the training for it actually, and she brought it up.

I think it was your post I was referencing actually! I know somewhere in the comments either you or someone else brought up that the max is 7 points and a NCNS is 5 pts, and being late is 1 pt

Yes I don't know the details about the points, but I do know that seven points is the max. If you get seven points you are separated. I \*think\* that they also never are lost, so they follow you where ever you transfer etc.

Maybe personally they’re doing that? Ive never heard of that being a policy but i would definitely find out if youre in an at-will employment state. If you are in one your employer can let you go with no ramifications legally citing business as their reason. Are you working with everyone there to find coverage? I only ask because if youre getting hep covering your shifts when you cant be there and give plenty of notice beforehand you should be fine.

I haven’t seen any details or heard any details about it though and the specifics.

Never heard of this before for the Bux. My old job had a point system in place.

There's an entry on this week's update for dms/sms only about "rewarding partners" with a scoring system, but that's all I've seen.
