Any tips for a barista interview??(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by starsfade
I applied to my favorite starbucks location a few days ago and was contacted by the store manager yesterday. I have an interview scheduled for tomorrow morning and I’m super anxious about it. I know it’s a good sign that I was even asked to interview, but I just have no idea what to expect. Do any of you have tips for the interview/an explanation of what to expect?? Sorry if this is asked a lot, my anxiety is just making me overthink this!!

Lead with your personality! Starbucks will teach you all the coffee/cash management stuff and no one will expect you to know that going in. Focus on showing how personable you are and try to drop some key phrases like, “connecting with people” and “serving the community, not just coffee”. Be authentic and don’t be afraid to say, “i don’t know”. They’ll be looking for adaptable and personable people who are willing to learn. Best of luck!

thank you so much for the advice!! i’ve always been super interested in learning how to make different drinks, so hopefully that helps the fact that i don’t know how to yet! i’ll definitely keep your advice in mind and try to just be myself :)

Just relax. Tell them how you like to treat people like you would like your family to be treated. Use words like I work well under pressure, I can multi task. I like a clean work space. I’ll always keep busy, cleaning or organizing in down time

It’s varies, the questions theyll ask will depend if you had a job prior to this one and if not they’ll ask questions based on your personality. General questions they would ask would be “When meeting with an angry customer, how would you handle the situation?” And another one would be “if a customer received the wrong drink what would you do in this situation?” More questions would be like “why would you want to work at Starbucks?”
