Drink guidance for a newbie !(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by reveur_
I just started to learn a little bit of bar. They started me on cold bar mainly focusing on refreshers and frappuccino’s. I’m still trying to remember the ingredients of each frap but can someone remind me…
**which drinks get whipped cream on the bottom of the cup?** (Also include if they get a pump of syrup)
Any advise on remembering these recipes is appreciated!!

One thing a lot of new people don’t know is that the Matcha and the Strawberry Frappuccinos get CLASSIC!! syrup :)

strawberry funnel cake gets whip and strawberry purée, mocha cookie crumble / chocolate cookie crumble gets whip and cookie crumbles, caramel crunch gets whip and dark caramel.
fraps are complicated until suddenly they aren’t anymore. remember every frap is milk, ice, and base, then a few extra components… most of it is intuitive based on the name (caramel frap gets caramel, vanilla bean gets vanilla bean, matcha gets matcha, etc).
remember it takes time to get used to it. don’t stress yourself out and NEVER be afraid to ask questions, even if you feel annoying. learn to do it right before trying to learn to do it fast. and don’t forget, everyone makes mistakes. going on two years and i still make them every day. you got this <3

I ask to clarify with a lot of the more complicated and diverse drinks and ALL my coworkers look like they wanna murder me all cause I wanna make the drink right :(

that’s frustrating :( but honestly? f that. just keep asking questions, they’ll love you in a few months when you have all the drinks DOWN. & then extend the helpful kindness you wish they gave you to the new baristas :) plus you’ll look great to ssvs & your manager
also— recipes are all on the ipad if you want to double check anything giving you trouble. or you can ask on here! keep it up, you’re doing everything just right!

Coworkers have used flash cards. I personally learned off of recognizing patterns when it came to the fraps. All fraps are the same thing with slight variation. For example:
Every frap gets frap roast (unless creme frap), whole milk, ice, the corresponding base and the magical flavor that makes it what it is. For vanilla bean crmfrap, it's the vanilla powder. For java chip frap, it's mocha and frap chips. Strawberry puree and classic for the strawberry crmfrap. Some fraps also have rules for whip and drizzle: coffee/espresso fraps no whip, every other frap yes whip. Caramel drizzle on caramel frap, mocha drizzle on every frap that gets java chips (regular mocha frap doesn't get drizzle).
Good luck!!

The drinks that get whip are 3 (well 3 and their cream counterparts, so 6)
Caramel crunch, mocha cookie crumble, and now strawberry funnel cake.
