Any advice? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Our tips have absolutely sucked the past few weeks. With the outages people aren’t tipping at all. Anyone have any ideas on what we can do to get more tips?

When someone orders something we are out of I have started saying that Starbucks hasn’t sent us anymore of that instead of saying WE are out of it. It puts the blame on Starbucks and not you and the employees of your store. Then I usually make a joke of some sort about how whatever they ordered is my favorite drink too and so I’m “suffering” along with them. Makes people feel a connection to you and see you as on their side instead of responsible for them not getting the drink they want. Obviously this doesn’t work on everyone but it’s worth a shot

Well Starbucks could pay us a living wage to start with. They shouldn’t push that off on customers.

Go work for a different company. I'm working my own tiny cafe in a pizza restaurant and get paid about $28 an hour with tips. Starbucks is sickening with how little they pay their employees in some areas. The employees at starbucks are a lot of fun to be around(in my experience) but Starbucks is going downhill with how they are really treating their own employees. If you really care about your tips and being respected by both your employer and your customers, I'd suggest you start looking for somewhere else to fill that coffee passion of yours. I'm glad I did!!! Make your moment right, not theirs

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get started? Running a small cafe has kind of always been a dream of mine but I have no idea how I'd even go about looking to start.

I was lucky enough to get in with a wonderful business owner who went in the direction of coffee as well as authentic New York pizza. They have their kitchen area, and I have my coffee and dessert area! Fortunately for me, it's a situation where I had to have no starting investments or anything. They KNOW my passion is for coffee so they called me and here we are! One day, it is my dream to open my very own coffee truck or cafe though!

I saw a post on another SB group a few days ago where the baristas posted a question and had a yes or no section of the tip jar. That might rake more tips in and increase customer connection scores.

Oh, easy. Just offer better service and do better customer connections /s

And fix the outages yourself by going to squeeze guava juice directly from the guava trees out back!

On occasion, if we get a nice regular I'll put it as a recovery and they get it for free, so they'll usually throw about half of what they were gonna pay in the tips. Doesn't work all the time, but mostly it does.

Like where they vote on a winner ie: Pirates VS The Kraken or Monkeys vs Robots? Personally, my money is on the monkeys.
