Passive aggressive manager or overthinking it? My manager asked me to come in on my day off when I have proctored midterms. (i.redd.it)

Oh yeah def passive aggressive. I like how you responded though, that’s always the best. Act like you didn’t notice and be kind :)

Oh I have seen more passive-aggressive manipulative from another SM from another store. She is trying to make me work in her store more often (because now I am more advanced and don't need any training anymore and she saw by the time I was there, that I am a strong partner, but she only had the luck to borrow me from my primary store to help out) and adds to her texts every so often "pretty please" and other manipulative shit to guilt trip me.

What I learned over the past 2 months working with the Siren is to assert my boundaries and stay firm by saying no. Otherwise my mental and physical health will go down the drain. *If I have a day off, I have my day off.* I am the one to decide whether I take someone's shift or not.

You did the right thing by drawing boundaries.

Never ever ever feel sorry about saying ‘no’. It’s not your shift, and that is NOT your problem. You shouldn’t feel any guilt from this and the fact that she’s putting you in this uncomfortable position is her prerogative.

Also, you shouldn’t need to explain yourself, a no is a no and you’re not obliged to reason with her.

i may be dramatic but seems like it to me, kinda like a slap in the face kinda thing

Agreed

I don’t read that as passive aggressive at all. They asked, you said no, they thanked you, you thanked them.

You offered to do the pull any other time so I think they are genuine in saying thanks for your flexibility.

I don't know if it's just my mindset but I'm assuming the passive aggression is them saying "I'm going to stay tonight." right?

In my head, depending on the phone conversation (if you actually called them), I saw that sentence and went "damn straight" coz that's their job as a store manager :/ I wouldn't see that as sass, I would mostly just be glad ^^^surprised that they're doing their job

But it also looks like you were guilted a little bit, which isn't right. Honestly I would say no just on that basis, but I'm also bitter lol

No it was the flexible part. Considering I was not flexible and didn’t come in

That piece of it could just have been appreciative that you offered another solution to try to help (you were not just saying no, you said no but I could make this other thing work… that is showing flexibility).
