Manager Doesn’t Want Me Covering Shifts Because I’m Transferring (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by gcjones016
As the title suggests, I got in trouble for covering a shift at another location because my SM said I cannot cover shifts at other stores because I’m in the middle of a transfer. She even said I couldn’t get paid for it, and that she’d try to figure out a way.

BUT the SM at the location I covered for assured me I’d get paid, and that she didn’t know what my SM was referring to.

Does anyone know a policy that prohibits partners from covering shifts at other locations simply because you transfer to another store in a week?

I’d also like to add that my new store is only an hour away, and in the same state but a different district. Please help! I was asked to cover another shift and need the $$$, so I’m hoping to find an answer soon.

Your manager is just being a turd.

Like, yeah you can be “in the middle” of transferring, but that just means they emailed your request and whenever you’re starting at your next store the transfer will be finalized (your new SM puts the info to transfer to go into effect that day). There’s no reason you wouldn’t be paid and no reason it would be remotely complicated to pay you (unless it was a different state or region?)

Considering you are on the other stores payroll I don’t know what your manager is smoking but she should share. You will always get paid for your work, your manager doesn’t even have close to the power to try and deny you pay for hours worked. Its illegal. Best guess is it has something to do with the paperwork, or she is just being annoying because your leaving. Either way no.

I think the sm might be referring to the fact that you aren’t in her system anymore but if that’s the case she’s making it to be worse than it is. There’s no way you won’t get paid as it’s against the law but she has to find a way to get you back in her payroll.
